Not so sure about that storage container on the driver's side there. They leak a lot and anything you put in there will definitely NOT come out in a condition you'll appreciate. :laugh:

My TE has the slide out tray which I hated at first since gear in the back would fall down in the tracks when you slid the tray out and you couldn't close it. I almost tore it out and went with Front-Runner or ARB drawers.

Ultimately, I decided to save some $$ and build a box on the stock slide out and a platform over it. It's definitely not the most elegant thing but it's functional for storage and organization.

I also built a 2nd platform the same height that I can add if the back seats are down and it makes a nice sleeping platform.

More bulky than other options, but I like the width and being able to collapse it for storage and easy to take in and out of my truck. Not that fancy, but it will hopefully suit my needs.

For right now, Lowe's CONTICO Black Plastic Storage Trunk. At $32 the box is solid but it lacks a lock or a latch. It does have two paddle lock holes which are good if you valet or leave your truck for service. I use a ratchet strap to hold it down against the back seat or it slide around. It will also fit front to back if you need to use the back for luggage or use one of the third row seats. The other design flaw is if it is against the back seat you have to move it out a couple inches so the lid will open.

Put a 2x4 behind it then ratchet it down

holy! I thought my milk box was innovative. Has anyone ever made it a goal to keep one of those trunk boxes insulated? Not so much to protect from the cold but from the heat?

I was searching for action packers the other day and not finding much - stopped at the army surplus store and found these containers. originally for medical equipment. about half the price of similar sized packers but much more durable and totally sealed. only real *issue* is 10 latches versus 1 to open.

How much were they

While I really like the great work a lot of you are doing with the built-ins, I need a more portable solution due to having to haul all kinds of crap from time to time. Like today, I hauled 150 pavers and about 5 bags of base gravel. Someone else in this thread or another put me onto these Home Depot Ridgid containers. They are very well made, sealed, and mostly square in shape. I use one closed container for tow strap, jumper cables, tie-downs, and a few tools. The basket holds growlers, cleaning stuff, dog stuff, etc. Putting them side to side fits perfectly between the wheel wells. They are low enough to slide under the cargo cover. Then I can put the Tundra 45 on one side which leaves enough room for fly-fishing gear, groceries or whatever.
