Those ads are absolute horse shite... This is big automotive trying to drive owners to their dealerships for all service, cradle to grave...

Things like this are why John Deere owners are downloading eastern European, bootleg software so they can diagnose and fix their own hugely expensive farm equipment. John Deere wants those service dollars.
 
Worry not! There are plenty of very smart people out there. If you can jailbreak an iPhone, someone will come up with software to crack these systems and allow you to access the info.

I was looking at buying a subcompact tractor at some point in the future and I will scratch Deere of my list because of this.

Kubota has nice tractors, reasonable prices, many options, great engines and easy to get parts so I will probably go with them.

Kubotas are top shelf! I bought a used one and loved it. That said, if I was buying new, I might try to save some coin and look at Kioti or Mahindra.
