whats the purpose of this?

I had the pillars off and I wanted to know the purpose of this. It seems like if it rains that it would get wet all on the inside. The seat belt is right below that hole. Is it best to fill this up?

My best guess is those are pressure relief vents. The equalize the pressure in side and out the cabin. So when you slam a door the sun roof doesn't pop open and stuff like that.

how do you get those off??? when it gets warm im going to actually paint my truck, when i primered it the first time i just taped the plastic off because i couldnt figure out how to get it off.... anyways instructions please???

You pry them off. Get a small screw driver, open the door and gently pry them out. You're going to break the little christmas tree clips that hold them in, I don't think there's an easy way to get them out, but O'reilly Auto Parts carries clips that fit pretty well.

there is a trick to it. I only got the one off. I broke all the clips but that one and then cracked two of the pieces the clips slide into.

I will take some pictures today. I am gonna por15 the inside of the 1/4's today. so I will be posting a bunch of pictures tonight.

It is impossible to get those off without breaking the clips or anything. I tried several different things before just prying them off and getting new clips.

And "Cometobanks" is correct. Relief vents, no need to close them off

actually it's not .. there is a "trick"

there are 5 clips on the panel
first push forward on the bottom , realeasing the botom clip .. then
push up on the trim piece .. to release the top .. pull forwarrd a bit to dissenguage the clips .. then

push down .. and the trim panel will come off , with out breaking any clips ..

now .. getting it back on is a different story ..

thats why we have replacement clips ..

much cheeper then the dealer

Slacker is right!! I tired that but they still broke. I got my new clips from him. I just installed yesterday and they worked like a charm.
