What's the white plug on the headlight housing

I noticed this white plug on both the headlight housings. It's on the inboard side of each housing and is a two wire plug.

Just wondering what it's for.

Its the plug that powers the whole headlight assembly.

I'm not in the habit of just randomly just unplugging stuff on a running car.

Since no one knows, I did unplug it. The low beam went out. The high beam, indicator and fog all stayed on.

This makes no sense to me. The low beam has its own plug with power and ground.

Anyone know why there a second control on the low beam?

Probably has to do with the auto headlight feature I am guessing/

i did say a few posts up that it was power for low beam.

This plug goes into a extension that plugs into the low beam bulb inside the headlight enclosure. This is the only power to the low beam bulb.

I thought the German's over engineered my BMW R1200GS motorcycle, but this may take the cake ... haha
