What's theLimited under hood liner/insulation made of?

Correct me if I'm wrong but it also helps suppress an engine fire due to its material.

The only thing that would suppress a fire would be a fire extinguisher.

I'm pretty sure that Heep dealers marketed this as a feature on the GC. Said that in the event of a fire the pins would melt and drop the insulation to act as a fire blanket. Still no substitute for an extinguisher.

It's a little late but here are a couple pics of the hood scoop removed.
As you can see the scoop is not completely sealed all the way around.
The real question is...why is it such an over- complicated assy?

I completely agree nothing will beat an extinguisher. I was just saying it's also marketed as a "fire blanket" as mace said.

So Jeep took into account that their GCs may catch on fire, and engineered in a measure to protect it....Interesting....
