What's your favorite Tires? And your usage?

I guess, since I want to do some offroading, "P-tires" are not for me. So, "LT-" it is.

I will look further into LRE vs LRC.

I am leaning towards trying the new KO2 now, in either 265-70R17 (stock) or 275-70R17 (TRD team cfg). According to 1engineer's thread, 275-70R17 should not rub and should be clear.... yet some postings else where said otherwise.... so I am a bit confused (ie. more homework is needed)

Currently BFG AT KO2 should already have 275-70R17 LRE available, and next month, it should be the stock 265-70R17 in both LRE and LRC.

Unfortunately, it's hard to say definitively what will rub and what won't. My KO 265's on SR5 17"s with Spidertrax spacers and 5100's @ 0.85" lift still needed a very minor fender liner mod (took about 10 minutes).

I much prefer load C - ideal for SUV and light duty 1/2 tons and can handle about anything but most severe conditions off road. Think Load E is overkill and adds too much weight but also prefer to P. I would not run P on a 4x4 that plans on going anywhere you wouldn't drive a Corolla! In last 25 years, have had 3 flats on P tires in 15,000 miles - have driven mainly C but some E load several hundred thousand miles and have yet to have a flat.

And I've done thousands of miles on P rated tires on Tundra's 4runners, Tacomas, etc without a flat. The LT's are heavy and yes probably less susceptible to punctures but you've got to decide if that's worth the trade off. A P rated All Terrain tire is pretty tough as is.

My usage is not just thousands of miles on freeways, I will be using the 4R offroad.

All the BFG T/A KO2 are "LT".

How much heavier anyways, the same(size) tire P vs LT? Any actual mpg comparison studies out there, for 4Runner?

BFG's lack of load range C tires forced me to move to a manufacturer that does make them, so I ended up with Cooper Discoverer S/Ts in the 275/70R17 size the OP mentioned. Even though they are larger in size than the 265/75R16 BFG AT I was running, they are the same weight at 50 lbs. The equivalent BFG in my current size would weigh 56 lbs each.

The S/T is a little more aggressive than the BFG and therefore makes more noise. I wasn't expecting the mileage drop as significant as I experienced--when I had the 265/75R16 tires I could easily get 21 MPG on the highway even with my supercharged V6. With the slightly larger tires, even adjusted for the odometer error, I'm down to 19 MPG. Not terrible considering the vehicle's power and capability, but it was still a hit in the mileage department.

Overall, I'm pleased with the tire but would choose the BFG over the Cooper if it were available in a Load Range C, which it is not.

I had BFG All-Terrain KO's, load range C, on my Z71. Installed at 65k miles, and I would say there was still 20-30% life remaining when I traded my truck for my T4R at 136k. Loved those tires, can't wait to replace the stock Bridgestones on my 4Runner with BFG's. I never had an issue with the lighter load rated tires on my truck, even when trailering moderate loads or hauling ~1k lbs + in the bed. Worked great pulling my father in law's boat out of a muddy dirt boat launch every few months, too. Way better than stock, but I didn't have experience off-roading with them.

My one gripe was that I had a number of bead leaks. Not sure if it was the fault of the tire or not, but it got the point where I was inflating my tires every 2nd morning before work.

I ran hanook dynapro rtm f10's on my tahoe...loved them!

Another Hankook fan here, except I had them on my 1st Gen Tacoma. Great all-around tire that was not too expensive.
