Wheel Fitment ? 265/75/16 on a bone stock 99' SR5

Title says it. Thinking 16" pro comp 8069s with Michellin A/T2.

I have a 99' SR5 2wd, bone stock. Not wanting to do any suspension just change rim and tire. Any rubbing, fitment problems, etc.?

First pic is mine. Second is want i'm looking for (a great pic btw). Going A/T2 due to amount of highway travel.

Any help is appreciated.

The tire won't cause any rubbing. You will need to check the backspacing on the wheel. I little more backspacing is ok, but too much more and you could get rubbing or contact with the suspension.

I apologize but can anyone enlighten me on the backspacking? Not really sure what this is or what i'm looking for.

Yeah, that is a good explanation. It is an easily googled topic.

Stock backspacing is about 4.5. If your new wheel has more backspacing, then the center line of the tire is closer in towards the engine. If you have less backspacing, then your wheels will stick out farther than usual (same effect as wheel spacers).

I would suggest just not venturing far from stock, especially on the upper end (like don't go past 4.75-5 backspacing). I think that is about where you will start to get rubbing.

So, with a 4.5 backspacing on 16" pro comp 8069s and 265/75/16 tires, I should be good to go, correct?

I guess the next area of research is to determine the backspacking on the pro comps. I'd imagine they come in with different backspacings but will research.

I run 8069's on a '99 SR5 with 265/75/16 Geolanders. They rub the "mud flap" infront of the running boards. Getting it lifted Saturday to fix the issue.

Ah ha, so they do rub! :bash: Are you rubbing at full steer, partial steer, etc? How much clearance are you short? 1/2", 1"?

I'm not doing any lifting so might have to go with a smaller tire.. say 265/65 or 265/60...? That'd maybe work depending on how much rubbing you have...

Any ideas?

That is near impossible. The 265/75/r16 was the stock tire size even on Sr5
2wd models.

No, stock was 265/70/16. 1in smaller diameter tire

If you look at my runner (picture in first post), those are 15" rims. It looks like i'd have plenty of room for the 16"s.

Anyone else agree?

You are absolutely correct, i slipped the extra 5 in there. The stock tire was the 265/70/r16

They rub when you are going slow ie: turning into a parking spot. The rubbing is minimal..but rubs none the less. I removed a screw from the trim so it wouldn't eat the tire.

The Yokohama Geolander ATS 265/75/16 has an inflated diameter of 31.9 which is slightly more than most 265/75/16's.

I cannot confirm if tires of this size came stock on '99 2WD 4Runners, but I highly doubt it.

I will try to take a pic on my lunch break.

Is it just rubbing on the pinch weld? or are you actually rubbing the fenders where the mudflaps attach?

Wondering if those who run 265/75/16's who do NOT rub are 4X4 models with higher springs etc. vs. 2wd which may be lower, and thus more prone to rub?

yeah mine was a 4x4 but i dont think 4x4 matters its more of which year is your 4runner made different years have different hight not just 99s even 98s and 97s, but 99 are known to be a tad taller than all other year so i think u'll be fine
