ok guys so heres on what I plan on buying, Trail grapplers 285/75. Now I want my wheels to sit outside of my third gen a bit. I have read a few articles on here about backspacing and it isn't making any sense to me. So what backspacing will I need on my wheels in order to get them to sit out a bit. I really want to stay away from having to add wheel spacers. Any thoughts!!????

You can dial in exactly how far you want them to stick out. Then, order the proper wheels to match what you want.

Or just get spacers. What'll make them stick out too.

Best sizing for the best stance. Buy a 16x8" - 8.5", 4.5" wheels spacing, with a -6mm offset. That will put the wheel even with the larger plastic fender flares you have, maybe a touch past.
Here is an example of that size wheel with a 285...yours may stick out a bit more since the TG is a more aggressive tread tire.

Thanks!! That is basically the exact look I am going for! What is the difference between the 4.5" spacing and the 6mm offset though? everything I look at just lists the 6mm offset and doesn't say anything about spacing.

I would suggest reading through this real quick, as it explains the differences between offset and backspacing more simply than I can. Wheel Backspacing Vs. Offset | eHow
That link along with the one I previously posted should help you make better sense of it all. Just compare the width and offset of your current wheels vs. the wheels you are looking at and the offset calculator will tell you where the new wheel will sit in relation to your current wheel.

Looking at all the wheel and tire threads helped me a lot! Before I got my 285s I looked at all the threads I could to find a stance I liked. I thought about getting spacers but they just seemed like a hassle. I have limited flares so it was even harder to make a tire flush then the SR5 flares that you have. Ended up seeing LC wheels on a few peoples rigs and thought they looked at home on a T4R so I looked for those and after a few months found a set on IH8MUD.
