I'm stock except for slightly bigger Nitto TerraGrapler tires. I did just fine at Rausch Creek so I don't foresee any problem in the Piney's

Park rules and regulations and coordinates.
I know we still have a lot of time before we go there, but wanted to post rules and regulation for park. I also called the office and they told me there are two locations we can meet. Batsto or Atsion. The office at Atsion is closed, but i have a navigation address which will work. The other office is open, but the Lady told me the navigation usually screws up and does not take you there unless you use Map coordinates. The adress for Atsion is 744 Rt 206 Shamong NJ 08088 and the adress for other office 31 Batsto Road
Hammonton, NJ 08037, but the navigation won't take you there unless you use map coordinates. N-39-38.662 W-74-38.809 at this office we can get a map of Pine Barrens. Does anyone know how to use map coordinates.
Here are the rules: Off-Roading has become increasingly popular in NJ's Pine Barrens. Wharton State Forest alone has over 500 miles of unpaved roads in its hundred thousand-plus acres of forests! There are a few important things to know before going out, especially if you're new to the area!
First and foremost, your vehicle must be "street legal". All this means is that if it's properly licensed and registered to operate on the public roadways, you are permitted to drive it on the public roads within State property, whether they are paved, gravel or sand. It is strongly recommended you have a 4WD vehicle, though not mandatory.
Do NOT stray from the roadways. Aside from the obvious pitfalls, such as getting lost, these forests are environmentally and historically sensitive; you may inadvertently damage or kill plants or animals, or destroy historical artifacts. Stop at one of the forest offices, either at Batsto or Atsion, and pick up a brochure with a basic map of the sand roads, natural areas, campgrounds, etc.
Do not rely on your GPS, as it is not always accurate if you get lost, which is very easy to do. Also, do not rely on certain Internet map searches, as some services indicate roads as paved when they are not. Some services also indicate roads where there are none. Also, cell phones may not work in some areas.
After rain or snow, large puddles are common in the Pine Barrens. While some roads have "go-rounds" where puddles often form, many less travelled roads do not. Don't try to drive through the puddles! They may be deep, and it's easy to get stuck. Unless you have a winch (and be sure to use a tree-saver), you'll be stuck until someone finds you! Better yet, don't drive alone.
Forest Rangers patrol the roads daily between 9AM and 4PM, during regular office hours. If you get lost or stuck during the day, you can call the Wharton office 609-561-0024 (if you have phone service!). They can arrange a tow from a private company - AT YOUR EXPENSE - they do not perform this service. If you're lost, don't give them your coordinates; tell them where you turned into the sand road, how far you travelled, and what turns you made.
Stay off private roads, driveways, and gated areas. If a road is marked PRIVATE, that means it's privately owned and you will be trespassing. If a gate is across a public road, it's because you shouldn't go beyond that point. It does not mean you can drive into the wooded area, around the gate, and continue on. It means STAY OUT. These gates are placed for numerous reasons, and it's often for the safety of the vehicle and/or driver.
Remember that you're sharing the sand roads with other off-roaders (some coming from the other direction on rather narrow roads), hikers, bikers, hunters, campers, equestrians, and yes, even active environmentalists. PLEASE use common sense - don't speed, keep to the right, and PLEASE DON'T LITTER. In this way everyone can enjoy the beauty that the NJ Pine Barrens has to offer.

Hey been stranded out of town do to storm (all flights were canceled in to NY) so i extended my visit out west but this looks cool as hell. Quick Google search says im about 2.5hrs away. Ill take the drive! Maybe I can meet up on road with someone and drive down together.

Do you think we should try to meet up at a local place and just follow each other there? Like a Burger King or a Walmart or something everyone can easily find and get the group together and head over there at the same time?

I'm in Northwest, NJ, about 50 minutes from the GW bridge. I'm about 2 hours and 15 minutes away from the Pine Barrens.
I know, it's crazy out there. I went with my sister this morning to wait in a gas line. Waited almost an hour and then they ran out of gas :bash: Good thing our 4th gens have locking gas caps, the 5th gens can't say that...Sorry had to do it
I love the 5th gens so I don't hope to start anything

Does anyone know if there is a place we can all meet next to Pine Barrens and then drive there. The two offices are located at two different places.
What time do we wanna meet there too?

Do you want me to bring some gas for your guys, Fortunately here in Philly we do not have this problem.
Also i was wondering, are we bringing wife, gf, friends and kids or we doing a guys thing because it is a day trip and not like camping? Just wondering

Thanks for the offer man, hopefully things will be back to normal by then. I mentioned it to my gf who really wants to come but she's stuck at school that weekend for some choir BS. I told her I'll bring her the next time around. I'll probably bring a friend, but if not then it's just me.

Btw I will be departing from Lawrenceville (beginning of 206, south of Princeton). If anyone would want to meet and drive to the "official"(when one is organize) meet together let me know.
Other than boots, recovery gear, some towels and some snacks......I didn't see anything on the park rules regarding alcohol beverages?? Just asking....

Base that some of people have to drive for two hours or more, we can probably meet at the local spot next to Pine Barrens around 10 or 11 am, so we can spend a good day there, because it gets dark now days. And i think the office works from 9am-4pm if we need them, but i do not percee any problems.
