I guess those with out CB are stock not listening to each other, but i hope we all follow each other and that way noone gets lost. We should make a trail plan before we hit offroad.

From what I understan (correct me if im wrong), Vsc cuts power when your trying to accelerate and wheels spin. Trac will brake wheels if you start going sideways.

With the mod i posted you can freely spin tires (donuts forever)

After further reading it seems to be the opposite of what I said, but the mod works.

VSC - Kicks in when the system senses the vehicle's rear is starting to slide (steering angle). It cuts engine speed and pulses individual brakes to bring the vehicle back tracking straight (if it can). If you’re in mud (or stuck in snow) its best disabled.

A/TRAC - Kicks in when the system senses wheel spin and pulses the brakes on that wheel to divert torque to the other wheel on that axle. It is not effective when both wheels (on the same axle) have no traction.

In mud it's best to power out (spinning) and have good self-cleaning tires. I have found it best to use 4low (W/center diff locked, VSC disabled) and maintaining 2K rpm. This allows A/TRAC to help if it can

Anybody going that actually knows this place can be trail leader?

Anybody else with a Winch? Ideally we should stagger winch owners through out the line in case they are needed. If nobody else has one I can take the last position of the line. Not the best but at least we can make sure nobody is stuck at the end.

Sounds like a plan, i think Patrick (needmoresalt) has a winch on his, but that it for the group. I know a lot of people will have recovery straps though.

My buddy lee doesn't have a winch... But he does have a stuffed sheep, and can lead the way (hopefully)

On the 4th gen 4Runner, locking the center diff should disable VSC. I have a disable switch/button on my GX.

When I had my v8 4runner, I used to do donuts in the snow with the center diff locked. 4x4 donuts are fun!

I have a cb and I can bring a couple of talkabouts (FRS radios).

I know the area somewhat. I've been riding dual sports and enduros down there for the last 5 yrs but haven't really offroaded with the truck. I have gps tracks for a big bike ride I did a couple of years ago that's all state roads (no private roads) so that might be an option. The 2 loop are about 70 miles each.

No winch but I have at least 2 or 3 tow straps I'll bring.
