wheels vs spacers

Hi all. I am planning my lift now and have a few questions. I am going with a Icon stage 2 with the Icon tubular UCAs or maybe the LR UCA. I have decided on the GY Duratracs. Now I need to fogure out wheels. I want to go with black steel wheels like I had on my old Jeep XJ, so I was thinking US Wheel 804 Stealth Daytona black, but I am not sure the exact size. I am trying to eliminate using wheel spacers, which is really the issue. So do I go with 17x8 6x5.5 with 4.5 BS or do I go with a 17x9 6x5.5 with 5 BS offset mm at 0 (center bore 4.28...not sure if I know enough about the bore to know if that will fit).

Any ideas which woudl be best?

Are you trying to go with the same specs as the factory wheels or are you looking to get more poke?

I would like them to be more flush with the outside, definitely more poke.

Lots of info on widths and backspacing so you can figure out if the wheels you want will give you the look you want. There are also sites where you can enter the specs of your current wheel vs the aftermarket wheel and it'll show you the difference as far as poke etc. like this one Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com

I think that last link got me a bit confused witht he backspacing measurements they use. It appeasr -12 MM is equal to 4.5 BS? and 0 MM is equal 5 BS? Am I reading that right?

I'm not a wheel expert, but I think the offset and backspacing numbers vary by wheel width. So -12 offset will be 4.5" BS with a certain width of wheel but a different BS with another width of wheel.

9" wheel with 4.5 backspace, a 5" bs would set it in by 1/2 " hope it helps.
