Wheelspacer do they help???

I've read all the post on 4th gen T4R lifts does using wheel spacers really help you install larger tires. I recently lifted my 06 with the daystar kit 2.5" front & 2.0" rear, which actually gave me closer to 3" in the front. I installed 275/70/17 tires, on stock SR5 aluminium rims, clearance @ uca was close to 1" but tires rubbed on fender liners. I understand why wheelspacer are used for uca clearance for wider tires, also it gives the vechicle a wider track But do they help with larger tire diameter for clearance on fender liners. I now about cutting the liner & fenders, ( 285s ) just really don't want to do that mod. So for now I'll run 265/70/17 which look pretty good. Working on pics

I don't think spacers will prevent your from having to trim with 285s. It didn't help with my 275s which still needed the light trimming. However without them my Cooper STT 275s would have been shreaded by the UCA's.

to confirm you. the wheel spacer move the wheels out and does nothing for the hieght of the tires. so if you did buy spacer, it will make your tires rub even more!

thought about doing a Body Lift yet? i think 2" is the max for 4th gen. which will help you clear the 285's.

Ive got 285's and trimed my fenders, but there is someone else on this forum who did not trimm just removed the bolts and some how got the same effect. I dont remember who it was . I will try to find the thread.

Got it. mprsev said he took out the bolts that secure the bottom half of the inner fender liner and used some ZIP TIES, put through the hole where the bolt was and pull forward a couple inches and then he used the zip tie to hold it in place, then he said if he ever wants to change it back just cut the zip ties and bolt back into place.

With the way my tires rub slightly, I don't think the spacers would get rid of it.

Also, how much added stress do spacers cause?

I've got a set of spacers 1.25" which will fit.
