Good afternoon, I have a 95 2wd 4runner v6. When I touch the brake pedal, i get a loud whistle from inside the cab. Its not from the brake pads, it comes from inside the vehicle. Anyone know what maybe causing this? thanks in advance!

Normally a whistle indicates an air leak, poss in the hose from the manifold to the collector, but air leaks are just one of many possible problems. Does it happen when you let off the gas too, or just when pressure is on the brakes?

and does it make that sound when you're stopped and apply brakes?

thanks for the reply, the whistle happens only when i press the brakes. it does do it when at a full stop, i just have to press harder on the brake to make it stop.

Do a search on how to test the brake booster. It's a quick 3 minute job and is a very easy way to see if the booster is bad.

New rotors and brake pads---now I have a whisling noise

I just got new rotors and brake pads a couple days ago and I have a whisling noise coming from my wheels. Not sure what it is--took it back to my mechanic and he said there was some glue residue from the plastic the new rotors were wrapped in. He cleaned them off and inspected them...said everything looks fine. Picked it up drove it home and I still have the noise.... not as bad, but its still there. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

where would the check valve be located? i didnt see it on the brake booster. could it be the piece that is mounted on the fire wall? I also have checked the brake booster and the tests show it is still good, i think i will change the hoses as i changed the clamps and the whistle stopped for a short time and then it returned but not as loud. thanks
