When will the Bilstein 6112 be released?

I just put mine on this week. Went with 5160s in the rear paired with Wheelers rear springs. They are copies of the Sway-A-Way springs Expedition Portal liked so much, but are no longer made.

Impressions after a few days are very positive. I can only compare it to stock and my friends 4th gen on OME, but its every bit as smooth as the OME system. Brake dive is virtually gone. My wife was concerned but after driving it on the pothole filled roads she gave the thumbs up.

Set on the 4th clip.

What size tires are you running and any rubbing issues?

Edit....Just read the rest of the thread and saw you were 285 with minor rubbing....

Almost forgot to mention, when I started the process I noticed hydraulic fluid at the tip of the reservoir:

And while I was on my test drive I got out to check how things were in the back and I could hear the shock fluid in motion... Seams like the shock is leaking... No Bueno. I haven't done any off roading since purchasing the truck, just have been using it as a daily driver. I'll send an email over to Bilstein tomorrow or soot see what they say.

I had the same problem and my reservoir eventually leaked all the remaining fluid out. Still survived a week in Moab though Get it warrantied!

It doesn't look like it's leaking all that bad but I would definitely keep an eye on it. Also, I would try to rotate that resi so the hose isn't up against shock so it doesn't rub a hole in the hose.


With the 5160's and Icon springs, do you feel there is sufficient down-travel? I'm torn between the 5160's or the slightly longer Fox shocks.

Has anyone done the 2nd clip in the front (~1.25") and a 10mm spacer in the rear? I think this is the setup I might try. It visually fixes some rake and keeps the frame rake "correct" - I am less concerned about fender appearance. I do load it down a fair amount and I fear if I just do the 2nd clip with stock rear coils that I will be forward high whenever loading it down. I'm not in a position yet to go for a higher lift with rear springs. Has anyone done this, or can you think of a reason why I shouldn't do this? Spacers in the rear seem common enough and shouldn't impact the ride drastically being such a small spacer.

Very content with going on the 4th notch on ours. My first thought is that it will be too much compromise with on road manners in the fast corners, off cambers, stutter bumps etc. it actually still feels flat with the KDSS and soaks the bumps up that much better. Just waiting on the all terrains to show up tomorrow and will post update pic. Here's one for now pulled up beside a trdp I saw.

What size KO2s did you go with? 275 or 285? any pics yet?!

Your installer can use your upper OEM parts.

One is not required to purchase these other items. I purchased them so everything up top would be new and the other shock assemblies would come out intact.

Super disappointed that this happened. Not sure if this will be cover. Its way too early for this to fail.

if its covered, (hopefully) i would need to send in the shock but the runner would be out of commission and who knows when and how long to get back. we will see what they will say. I might have to buy another shock which would suck. =/

Either way it does because your vehicle is out of commission. I don't see why it wouldn't be covered under the "lifetime" warranty. Keep us updated as I certainly want to know how it works out, especially with such a popular and supposedly reliable lift combo.

I always assumed the 5160 was limited lifetime like the 5100's. Are the 6112 limited lifetime as well or 90 days? I always was looking at this combo over the Toytec systems b/c lifetime vs 1 year warranty, but if that's not the case...

As stated before I really hope it works out the way it should for you.

Ruh roh! Many of us are running this combo. I have seen a couple of posts of 5160s leaking fluid, but this is terrible. Seems like the 5160s may have a design flaw.
