where are you guys buying your TE's?

As mentioned I got mine in Phoenix at earnhardt toyota. I know the mountain states region has them. For example the ones in Denver. But nothing in tx or la right now. you have to go north or west....so yes it is over 1000 miles. Nobody I talked to in Houston, BCS, Austin, DFW were even willing to try to get me one. So when somebody on here said they had several in Phoenix. I made a deal and flew out for 100 bucks and drove it back.

Not sure on the price. My 2011 with Kdss, and like just mats was right at 36000 plus ttl.

atkinson in college station told me they were gonna talk to a manager and see if They could get me one by swapping out or buying from somewhere out of state... the out of state thing would kill me, I would have to fly myself and my mother out there (as she is cosigning on my loan) and drive us both back from out of state... If I "have" to I will... but this is a last resort

You don't have to take your mom. My wife and I bought it together. They sent me a packet via mail. Filled it out and mailed it back. I flew out alone to pick it up only since we "bought it" throught the mail. Now I had to rely on test driving a sr5 in College Station a few times and got the trail sight unseen....

If they can get you one that is easiest. Especially since you can break it in locally and not on a long road trip. But it can be done without her having to go.

Maybe gulf states will get some 2012s?

I gotcha, did you have to pay double tax to get it with texas plates? Ive never bought a new vehicle from out of state so I have no Idea how it works... preciate the info my man.

No. I had to pay AZ tax. AZ has a reciprocal agreement with texas. Not sure the details. But I got stuck paying their higher rate instead of ours.

I haven't gotten my local plates yet. Working on it. I have to get some more paperwork from toyota financial. to get tx plates I had to show tx inspection, proof the dealer paid the taxes to dmv, financial instutions name and address and either a registration receipt or some other kind of proof of vin number.

I lost my notes at the moment that detail that last one.

It is a few hoops to jump through. If I hadn't financed, it would have been easier.

That is why I'd say get it into texas through a dealer if possible. But it isn't too much of a pain so far. The county clerk was pretty nice telling me all the crap I needed to get my Texas plates.

When I finally narrowed down my choice of vehicles to the T4R TE, I made good use of the internet to find my vehicle. I hate driving around to dealerships whenever possible as I can invariably expect to be approached by the one of the gung-ho neophytes who possesses minimal knowledge and too much enthusiasm for a quick sale at or near the sticker price. By going through the internet I was able to locate several vehicles within 50 miles of me and I then narrowed down my focus based on the few choices in variables (color and other minor features). Finally I sent emails out to the dealerships and got quotes. I pointed out that I wasn't going to pay a premium price and that if they didn't give me a great price I had plenty of other places to go. You can research dealer cost online and that is a good starting point. Remember that they still make a profit if the sell "at cost" since there are other hidden incentives they receive for each sale. They will not likely sell at "cost" even so, but you should aim to be much closer to "cost" than the sticker price. Get them to commit to a price before you go there. Obviously it helps to live in a larger city where there are more dealerships--here in Southern CA, I have a lot to choose from.

doesnt get much bigger than houston my man, but for some reason they dont keep these "trail" 4runners in the gulf states... multiple dealers out here have told me this. my butt cheeks are clenched for sure, I think im looking at around 38k-39k before I add my Katzkin baseball glove leather seats.
