Are you referring to a bull bar that would replace your entire bumper, such as ARB, TJM, or ShockRocks? Or the more common ones that fit over the stock bumper and extend out to cover the head lights?

Are you searching for a simple push bar, grill guard or a whole bumper replacement...such as a TJM, ARB, or Shrockworks???
There is a merchant on eBAY called Hunnter Truck Wholesale I believe and they push bars, bull bars and grill guards.

Found them. IT seems they list it as the same part number for the 97-98 4runner and 98-04 tacoma. If thats true then all of the other vendors would probably work as they all had 98-04 taco part numbers listed.

hkspwrsche - Are you getting this for looks only? Because they don't do anything for off-roading. Also, if you happen to get in a little fender bender, you could suffer more damage, because those bull bars are weak and will bend up into the hood, headlights, and grill. I'd leave it alone if I were you. The 4Runner's got a nice front end. Why hide it?

You are talking about a brush guard. I don't think he is talking about a brush guard, but a bull bar like Mikeinthehouse has on the front of his 4Runner. Something that only sits in front of the bumper itself.

They are all the same things. They are all weak and will bend. If you get into an accident with the bull bar, you will still suffer damage. Look at how they sit. Imagine bending them upwards(in an accident, it will not bend straight back, but it will bend at an upward or downward angle). It will scratch/crack the grill and maybe the hood.

i just ordered a westin bull bar for my 2001 tr4 from pep boys and they had a listing in ther book. i haven't received it yet they said wed or thur i should have it. ill let you know it turns out.
i have a westin safari bar i bought and made brackets for but it stuck out to far and doesn't look right .

Look at it. Are you telling me that those four thin sheets of metal will hold up to any kind of collision? Your CRX would have a better chance of surviving.

I do understand where you are coming from on that, and I know it isn't very tough, but I really like how it looks. I can't stand full brush guards, for both reasons that you specified. I won't be doing any real wheeling (2WD so no point) so I wouldn't be using it as protection of anything, so I figure it will be alright. If I hit someone with the front of my truck the bumper will be screwed anyway lol

installs extremely easily... comes with brackets and all neccesary hardware.. just need hand tools... Took about 30 min to put on.

Damn I usually use my air tools... Where are those manual wrenches...Guess it'll be 15min with my air!:biggrin2:
