Where did you bought your Fumoto Drain Valve?

For those who owns this drain valve to save time when changing their engine oil where did you bought it and what is the correct size for our 2006 4Runner?

This has been repeatedly posted. I bet you can find it inless than 2 minutes of search.

Also you might be able to google up a discount code. I did when I bought mine some time ago.

The valve is worthwhile. Together with the up top filter (V-6), oil changes are quick and clean.

FRAM offers one of these (SureDrain?) and I bought it at Autozone I think. It was cheaper than Fumoto and I liked the draining mechanism better.

I also went with a Fram SureDrain. Makes a V6 oil change super easy. Search the threads for the part number.

Do any of these drain valve designs protect the valve from accidentally being knocked by a rock or obstacle while off (or on) road, thus opening the valve and having a really bad problem?

I like the idea of the drain valve but I'd like to be 100% certain the valve won't be accidentally knocked open.

Yes, the Fram isn't a ball valve. It is a protruding stub that has an internal mechanism. This gets pushed back up allowing oil flow when you attach an activating portion to "drain". This is all protected with a removable threaded cap that acts as a safety and dirt cover.

That is exactly why I felt the FRAM had a more secure drain mechanism and why I went with the FRAM over the Fumoto.

If you are going to go this route, the Fram does seem to have a better design. What a great way to drain your oil, fast, nice and clean.

This is on my mind though: It is a valve, ever wonder about failed valves? Your engine would be destroyed if this thing fails. We don't have an oil pressure gauge, just idiot lights.

Factory drain plug: A metal drain plug with a gasket. Nothing to fail. Fits tight against oil pan. Assuming a brand new gasket is installed every time, and the drain plug is torqued properly, nothing will ever fail. Simplicity and reliability at its finest.

The Fram drain valve is extremely convenient, and makes oil changes a breeze. However that is a lot of trust to put in a valve holding your engine oil.

Look at the Fram design and it is not a conventional "valve". Use the safety/dirt cover and it's just like a solid drain plug until you have to remove it.
