Heres a link to a thread i started showing my setup i have for school. Its definitely not the best, but i do mostly highway driving to go to school *45 mins* so it works for now. Im transferring next year, so ill be driving 10 minutes where ill switch for a hitch mount because it will just be easier.

I have a Thule receiver hitch mount and have no problems with it at all. It has been on 3 vehicles (Subaru, '07 T4R and even my '06 Honda Accord) for over 5 years. Not once has a bike (road and mountain) been damaged or come loose (and I've not babied it).

I like the the hitch mount because I don't have to take off the wheels (and risk forgetting to properly attach them and set the brake). I also don't have to lift the bike onto the top of the car/truck after a long day of riding. And, if I had a garage, I would not have to worry about damaging the bike or the garage because I forgot that it was on top of the vehicle (this usually happens to those people who have a bike that is 3x as valuable as the car it is sitting on top of).

If not i take the front tire off and fold one of the seats down and fit it there, in the 4runner.

I've got a set of Yakima Raptor bike racks a while back off Ebay that I mount up on my loadwarrior. They work great! Wish I had a picture of them but don't and they're off for the winter but check them out. They get the job done well!

x2 on the Thule hitch mount. Got mine in '99 when I got the truck and never a problem. Holds 4 bikes--great on group rides when we need a vehicle that can haul a lot of bikes back to a starting point. I think the record is ten bikes (wheels off for those inside.)

Ii use a yakima holdup hitch mount to hold up my AM bikes. Works flawlessly.

if im traveling on my own i take the front wheel off and secure the fork to a QR mounted on a piece of plywood. Its great b/c its secure and as safe as my camping gear. Its also really hard to see the bike inside the truck with the OE tint.

I have 4 bikes with about $12,000(give a couple hundred) invested so I carry them in the back when I have one out and about! Most bikes will fit sideways(with front wheel off) in the back seat area with the seat bottoms folded up.

I have the same setup as LINY. Secure and works great. Keeps room open inside the cabin.

yeah im having trouble transporting my xl frame cannondale rush (6'3" 200 lbs) back and forth, i hate keeping it in the cabin so i been looking for a new method. i bought one of those hitch mounts from walmart and it broke and i almost ran over my bike! one thing i was considering was, since i'm getting a roof basket anyway, is to buy one of the trunk racks made for cars and integrate it to hang off the back of my roof basket. this this would be convenient and also kinda unique. thanks for all the pics guys.
