Where does a noob start?

So i have my 2005 sr5 v8! Love it so much! But where do I start? Is it possible for me to go off-road without anything different on it? Right now its just blacked out (so no performance mods, as I do not know how to do those!) But can i go off road in a completly stock sr5? Where do I go (Im from Cincinnati)? And how would I get out of 'sticky' situations? Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Remember your clearance and traction. Take a buddy with you for your trips. x2...you can definately offroad w/ stock, you are just limited in obstacles.

+1 Nothing ruins a great wheeling trip like getting stuck without a buddy to pull you out.

Boy, would I have missed out on a lot of good wheeling following that rule.

Truck is fine.

1) Read the owner's manual so you know all the buttons to push and what they do with the 4x4 system

2) Go buy the biggest tow strap you can find (a 3" by 30' is good)- the kind with loops no hooks on the end.

3) Go with someone else who also has a truck for when you get stuck.

Don't forget the beer, grill, gun for new food, and fishing pole. The Runner is very capable as is!

this is so true! a lot of times people wont know what kind of off road rig they want to build until they start checking out different types of trails and find out what they are into most.

I agree the 4runner is capable w/o mods. Take the manual...
The first thing I got was Weathertech floor mats and a rear cargo liner so I didn't worry about getting the inside all mucked up while having fun.

Add stuff as you go and have fun along the way...

A model, early import, love it. I would go with the B as well though...noticed less muzzle flip for some reason.
