Where the heck are the jack points?? 2018 TRDORP w/ KDSS

I switched to the Hein-Werner jack stands and now the frame is still resting one one point but that point is in between the flanges. I feel slightly safer.

I use these stands too. They work, but your point is well taken. A thin high durometer rubber strip would help distribute the stress, and provide a bit of friction. Don't use an olefin based plastic though - highly lubricious!

How about turning the stand 90 degrees so that the two high points of the saddle are along the frame?

If it's not perfectly level it's only going to rest on one of the two saddle points. As I'm using 2 brands of jack stands and my floor may not be level it will probably never be perfectly level. I use the U-shaped stands on the rear axle and the HW jack stands in the front frame behind the front wheels now. Seems relatively stable as it is no longer resting on the flange of the jack stand but in between the flanges.

I've only had to change a tire on my 4Runners a couple times while on the road over the past 30 years. I was much more concerned with the passing traffic killing me than the stock Toyota jack failing hwell:

I do carry a 3/4 inch 12x12 piece of plywood with me in case I have to work on soft ground and an impact because I'm old.
