Where to mount the stupid little box

Guys, I'm struggling like all get out to figure out where I am going to mount the stupid little box for my Cobra CB. I want in the center console but with the manual transfer case I cannot squeeze it in there out of the way of the shifter. Please post pics, before I hire someone to do this for me. It is hot as a fresh grilled cheese sandwich and I'm too fat to stay out in the heat.

I did get my antenna run and am very happy with it. Antman and 1 Engineer, please go ahead and request transfers to Dallas. I want to just take pictures and make posts!

HELLLPPP!!!!!

P.S. I just want the microphone connection to hang out on the side as I don't keep my CB installed 24/7.

It'll fit under the center console - remove the shifter trim (and unhook the rear window switch/harness) if you haven't already. Look underneath your center console and you'll see space for it there.

It is easier than you think. Remove both shift knobs (lefty loosely-by hand) and then firmly pull up on on the cup holder area with one hand and under a ledge by the t case shifter boot with another and the whole piece will snap out. Literally will take you 2 minutes.

I've done it three times, I know, I am just being a lazy butt. It was really hot today, maybe I will give it a whirl tomorrow again. Is ther a bolt to bolt it to under there?

Sorry Pat, the lazy days have overtaken me. I am out of service tomorrow and wont be able to do it then either, maybe in a couple of weeks. We have a full schedule ahead of us for the next few weeks (GIANT garage sale planned)!! I am thrilled we are going to be getting rid of a bunch of crap. Dresses from years ago (not mine, but the kids and some junk belonging to the squaw!!). This should actually be really good as it will leave more room in the garage for the M151A1 and some other junk that is mine which deserves better organization.

Ok lazy man! :cowboy:

You can mount the box in the center console under the armrest(after pulling the shifter trim)- under the area where the 110v outlet is. I wrapped mine in some adhesive foam weatherstripping to keep it from rattling around, and strap-tied it to a plastic bracket under there. Gotta figure, if you ever change your antenna, or need to adjust the SWR for any reason, you will need to get to that box to hook up the meter. Simple as cutting the strap-tie and replacing it.

FWIW - I did basically the same thing as Antman. I left the box wedged under something-or-other down there after my install because I didn't tune my antenna directly after install. So, when I went back to tune the antenna and noticed it hadn't moved. After I tuned the antenna I put it right back where I found it - didn't screw it in to anything.

I just want you all to know that I am crazy for you! Big help. Antman, where did you grund it and where did you tie into hot? I guess I could check your build, huh? I will do that tomorrow while I am sitting on my self described lazy backside.

Do yourself a favor and ground it where it's supposed to be- at the battery. I have tried 3 different grounding locations, and keep getting interferance from the door locks (BAD momentarty static on activation of the locks). I will be grounding at the battery next.

I think I sourced power via a minitap in the drivers footwell fusebox.

Or you could get fancy and run both power and ground from the engine bay like I did. Not hard, but a bit of a pain depending on how badly you cut open your hands under the dashboard.
