Which gears are best for me?

I am looking to see what gears I should run for my own personal set up. I know there is probably an answer on here for me but I just want to list some specifics and see people's reasoning.
Right now my 4Runner is TRD supercharged with the URD 7th injector and 2.2" Pulley. I am also running water/methanol injection. I currently have BFG KM2 285s and I can smoke them pretty well. I like high speed off road and some occasional rock crawling.
I am going to move up to 315/75R16 Toyo MT's, a large and heavy tire. With the additional engine mods I'm wondering what gears would be best matched with my driving style. I'm thinking 4.88s but I'd like to hear your opinions or thoughts.

Manual or Auto?

There IS a science to this. being that tire is almost 35", 4.88 would be fine with an automatic for torque and still have upper range. Not sure what you mean when you say "high speed", but I have that basic set up and drive freeway speeds and rock crawl all the time.

Like said above 4.88's would be the best all around gear for a 33-35" tire. If you do mainly city, offroad and not much highway than a 5.29 would work out. But in your case the 4.88 should do.

Top speed I've hit off road is 75mph but I average around 45-50mph. Last time I drove to Moab I hit 108mph averaging 85mph on the freeway. If that gives a better perspective on the driving.

Lol i definitely don't want 5.29 gears going 108 mph. RPM would be screaming. I went with 4.88 on a tall 33 inch tire. Still in shop getting them installed. Mine isn't a daily driver so I can live with it being a little lower ratio for a 33". Sounds like you like top end speed, I personally wouldnt go higher than 4.88 if you are cruising that fast on the freeway. Last time I checked my 4runner is an SUV, not a sports car. Maybe you found something I haven't. Lol 108 mph.. :D

108mph? I think you're going the wrong way, pal. Try 3.73s.

Yeah you need to go the other way when gearing if running those speeds.

At 400whp my AWD Talon did 108mph in about 12 seconds flat at the strip. I dont think my 4runner would break 100mph in 30 seconds going downhill.

So maybe 4.56's are looking better? I guess I'm looking to keep my acceleration because I have plenty of torque.

I would get your new tires first before deciding what ratio to run. Running a lower gear is just going to give you more torque. Do you have an e-locker? What is your gear ratio now? If you are satisfied with what you have now, it's wouldnt take much gearing to keep it that way because it's not like your jumping from say a 30" to a 35" tire.

Not to sound like an ass, but it's stupid and dangerous to cruise at those speeds on public roads. 108 in a 4runner is just asking for trouble. You are putting your occupant s and other drivers at risk for your own enjoyment? Top speed off-road 75 mph? Do you even have a internal roll cage and 5 point harness for all of your occupants? Perhaps taking a step back and be considerate to others. Want to go fast, take it to a race track.
