How steep was the hill you were trying to activate it on? Curious if it responds differently on a steeper grade.

You said 'it only stops it for a couple of seconds', to me that is kinda the whole point of HAC. It is suppose to keep the vehicle motionless (or close to) for the time it take you to get your foot from the brake to the gas. It is NOT designed for you to take your foot off, get a burger, then come back to the 4R on the spot on the hill.

If you can release the brake and press the gas on an incline without the 4R rolling back sharply then the HAC has done its job I think.

I'm not sure of the exact grade, but I would call it a steep hill.

I agree, holding the car for a second or two should do the job for anyone. But I thought it would just hold it there, and there is a post above about thinking it would work differently. I'm just trying to explain the way it does work.

I'll just be using the brake and gas like I normally would.

Here's the video. Pushing normally on the brake or pushing firmly on the brake did not seem to change the way it worked at all.

Good video. Just retested using more "firmness" on the brake pedal and it makes no difference and works exactly as in the above Youtube video. My driveway is steeper and actually picks up some pretty good speed in between the "slow ups" and momentary depressing of brake pedal. Personally, I don't care for it and doubt I'd ever use it intentionally.

looks like my 2012 limited has the same problem. It doesn't stop completely on the incline while released the brake. Has anyone had dealer check the HAC system?

It's hill start assist ,not emergency brake. It's meant to slow it down and not stop it.
