White Knuckle Sliders - Weld or Bolt On?

I just ordered a pair of White Knuckle sliders for my 2016 TRDP. I was planning to have them welded to my frame because that seems like the strongest, best, most professional way to do it. However, after reading many accounts of people touching up or refinishing their sliders on this forum (not to mention very few people posting about their welded-on sliders), I'm beginning to wonder if bolt-on may actually be the smarter way to go.

Just get bolt on and down the road you can always weld the bolt on here and there, but seriously you're overthinking it. I've put the entire weight of my vehicle down on my sliders and it was completely fine.

I would go with bolt on. The frame is not mild steel. Welding to the various high strength steel parts of the frame will likely still provide a solid weld, but it's not like frames of old. And the 4runner frame material is quite thin. Welding to it and getting good penetration into the slider plates without burning through the frame rail isn't going to be easy unless you're a pretty skilled welder. And the frame has very good bolt on mounting points. So IMO all the signs point to bolt on sliders.

May want to check with your dealer as well. I've heard rumors of the warranty being voided for welding to the frame.

Bolt on it is, then. White Knuckle also recommends the bolt-on approach, it turns out. I suppose I can always weld later, if the U-bolt method doesn't seem secure enough.
