Who doesn't have kids?

My wife and I have been trying for 2-3 years. I am 30. She is 29. After many doctor visits and consults and even 2nd and 3rd opinions, it's looking like we may never be able to have kids. It's been tough. Very tough. It's hard to hear you're younger co-worker say he is having a second child when they didn't want one in the first place. It's hard when all of your friends have 2-3 kids and your dream of raising your kids together isn't going to happen. It's hard to have a job where you work with kids on a daily basis. It's been hard on our marriage. It has been a difficult road. But we must have faith and believe that He has a plan for us and will guide us through.

Ever consider adoption or surrogacy? That's something we've discussed in the event we can't have kids or wait too long to decide to have them.

Not trying to hijack the thread.

Was it painful during or after? I'm planning on doing this in the next month or so and have read tons of mixed reviews about the comfort level.

Well, let's put it this way....

(1) I found out I have a high tolerance to novacain/lidocain.
(2) Ice is your friend afterwards. Stay off your feet for a day or two.

Don't loose faith. What is meant to be, will be!
My Aunt and Uncle went through your same struggle. They prayed for a child for 8 years and had pretty much given up when they found out they were pregnant with their first daughter. They have 3 beautiful girls now!! Their oldest will be 12 in March, Middle will be 10 in February and the youngest turned 8 in November.
Just have faith in HIS timing! :)

Stop trying! Seriously. I have no explanation why but my daughter has some issues that make it hard to get pregnant and after jumping through all the hoops of in vitro, numerous drugs that are supposed to help etc they gave up and decided to adopt. The week they were to sign the adoption papers she found she was pregnant. They had another two years later much to the docs surprise. Another couple we know went to extremes to conceive and were told they would never have a second child now have three. Another who adopted two kids now have five.

I think it comes down to the stress of trying, relax and quit trying and see what happens.

Adoption has been discussed. But not something we are quite ready for.

This is where we are right now. We are told this all the time by friends and family. And lately, I believe we have been doing a better job. It use to be all we talked about. We hardly ever went anywhere/left the house. We had appointments all the time to discuss options. Now we are finding things to do to keep ourselves busy and our minds off of things. It's hard to kind of let go of something that you want so bad but it will more than likely help with things. I appreciate everyone's comments.

I'm 28. Not married, no kids. Which might seem weird to those of you in the heartland, but out here on Long Island it's pretty normal, actually.
In a relationship...I'd call it semi-serious. Been together about 18 months. No real plans yet.
Both of us like kids, but neither of us want them. I have a niece and nephew and they're fun but it's nice to be able to "give them back".
Call me cynical but the world is a terribly ugly place and I don't really think I want to introduce another human being to that.

Maybe one day my mind will change...time will tell...for now I'm working on getting a house.

maybe the treatments helped and she experienced the benefit later than expected.

I am so very happy that I get to be an uncle. I am too self centered, irresponsible, and financially challenged to have kids. The desire isn't there.
