The worst part is forums are somewhat addictive and tend to encourage spending. 7 months ago I didn't know what T4R meant. 6 months ago I didn't know I wanted a 4Runner. 5 months ago I didn't know I would want to spend about 8K on my new 4R (but haven't yet!). And about an hour ago I found out the key to convincing myself to order stuff I didn't know I wanted.
Really though I've been much better on this site, but that's because of the move. When I was on Kawi forums I bought two motorcycles and modded the crap out of them. When I was on Scionlife, I spent more on the tC than I made in the payments the one year I had it. When I was on my350z, I bought two Zs (the first wasn't my fault... lemon lawed... but had to sell about 8k in unused parts because of the modding halt during arbitration and then they wouldn't fit the new Z). I only put a couple of grand into the second Z. So far here... no mods, although my 'favorites' folder for the 4Runner is getting a bit large.
My best recommendation is to also join a forum that improves you and/or saves you money, like couponing, small business entrepreneurship, or credit/finance (I'm particularly fond of creditboards). Good luck!
