Those with load range e tires. How have your rear wheel bearings been holding up? Lately I’ve been having a lot of rear wheel bearing issue. Replacing them like socks. I don’t recall but I want to say after putting the load e tires. Currently going to be replacing both rear wheel bearings with everything OEM. And I’ll be really pissed if they go to shit.

Heh, replacing them "like socks" sounds like either install issues or probkems with the axle housing itself.
As for MPG, I saw a ~4.3% increase in MPG on my wife's 5th gen when we saved 50lbs per corner by swapping in lighter wheels and tires than the silly dealer had installed. So, I wouldnt personally stress too much about it.
I run my e-rated tires at 40 PSI on the road, because I see a bit better mileage and a bit less road noise. However, at this pressure, they are very jittery on washboards, so I air down to 30 PSI when going offroad.

I've KO2s, Michelin at2s and duratrac wranglers in E load, still have original rear seals, going on 304K. Those 01/02s suck, eh?! :cowboy:

I have ran the same tire for years and always used C load on my jeeps and the 4runner. My most recent new set of 265-75-16s turned out to be out of round so they replaced them with another set but only had E loads in stock. The service manager tried to convince me that they will ride the same and my experience was telling me no but I went ahead with it cuz I needed tires. He was totally wrong and it rode jarring like a HD pickup. I run em at 30 psi cold and it is decent but will never buy another E tire again.
I have no idea how anyone can run an E tire at 35+ psi.

50lbs per corner?! Dang. What was on there and what did you switch to?
We run E rated tires on our van at around 80psi but its a 1 ton. The van just floats down the road but it also weighs 8000 pounds.
For those with E rated mud tires...how do they react aired down off road?
Is the 4runner heavy enough to make em flex over obstacles? They would be tough as nails but I wonder if you would actually loose traction 'cause they won't flex as well...

Dealer had installed 20x10" wheels with 33" Treadwright MTs. I put on some aluminul 17x8s and C-rated 33" ATs, collectively saving 50lb per corner. It was noticably peppier, but I was surprised how little a difference it made in MPG. I went from averaging 23mpg to about 24mpg on the same commute.

Are the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2’s that good? Are they noisy on the pavement? Will they decrease gas mileage and use up more energy?
I have a 2013 Toyota 4Runner and need new tires. I have winter rims and tires and just want a tire good for towing 5,000 lbs and able to pull the trailer up out of sand, mud and gravel while being able to explore off road a bit.
Is the KO2 the tire for me or should I consider:
- Bridgestone Dueler AT REVO 3
- Pirelli Scorpion All Terrrain Plus
- Michelin A/T2
- Others

If you want a genuine heavy-duty tire, BFG A/T KO2s are really good. Expensive also. They are pretty quiet when new, get noisier as they wear.
Load range D to E makes much less difference than what springs and especially shocks you have.
BFG KO2's are really loud and an overall poor performer in my opinion. I'll never get another set of them. I recommend Falken Wildpeak AT3w or Cooper Discoverer AT3 in a load D or E range.

Lowballer perspective here: Got a set of Milestar Patagonia MT in 265/75/16 yesterday. The only option was E. Discount Tire matched Walmart's online price on the spot of $129 per tire (the DT sales rep quoted me 168 per when I showed up). They are quiet and completely eliminated the steering wheel vibrations I had at speed with the very newish Toyo Open Country highway tires it came with. 80MPH like butter.

I've been happy with my set of Goodyear Duratrac's for 9 years now. 285/75/16 E-load.
Wife never complains and has daily'd the runner off an on over those years.
