who wants to go wheeling?

maybe we did a different part but it was slow going and we came to a spot that would require a ton of stacking of rocks and I mean a ton to get up and over. It is an awesome area and I'd like to do it again, but with better tires and more front end clearance.

where we were there wasn't exactly access to the fire service trail.

The fire road crosses in and out of the trail, they braid each other. We typically run the trail to the waterfall, then leave via the fire road so we can see other things in the area, go to El Rancho, go fix broken exhaust, etc.

Like I said before, there are a lot of different options for lines, so it completely depends on where you want to drive it. My buddies and I have big tires, lockers, pretty big lifts, tend to run the more difficult lines.

The trail has changed a lot from how it used to be, too. Used to be a lot more ledges, which are now filled in with rocks either stacked or washed in from a massive rain that came through there a few years back.

The trail used to be pretty secretive, but BFG ruined that when they put it on their top 10 list for national trails. It deserves it, but also means that it gets a lot more traffic than it used to.

The big fun obstacle for most is the slot. I ran the trail back in May and got all the way to that point without remembering using the center diff lock. Made driving the trail a bit more challenging, but it was an interesting driving experience; I was quite confused when the rear locker light was blinking until my buddy called out about the center diff. Doh! First picture is a stock FJ Loser pulling out of the slot.

I'll have to see if I can talk my buddy Brian into bringing his not-so-little 4Runner out on Sunday. We would do Saturday, but the Four Peaks Cleanup and prep for a trip to Moab is getting in the way. Second picture is his rig.

 Ohhh yeah, my bad - sorry about that.

Are we going to do something Sunday? I might need to bring the 06 4Runner if I don't get the current round of mod's done by then.

Next Saturday Nov 7th is the 6th annual Four Peaks cleanup from 8-5. We will be providing lunch to everyone who comes out. We do a raffle right after lunch then a 2nd raffle around 4:30 for those who are able to stick around and help with the cleanup after lunch. We have some amazing raffle prizes, t-shirts for all the volunteers, and a few new surprises for this year.

check out our facebook page for news and updates:

Castle Hot Springs Road...

Pics look awesome, and it sounds like you had fun. Come out with the group sometime!

I'm waiting for some pics of the Four Peaks clean up either here or on our FB page so I can feel super bummed I couldn't go. I tried to get the wife and her friend to go but my wife destroyed her knee at one of those obstacle course runs.

I did man, I had a great time!

I'd love to come meet the group out one of these days, but unfortunately you guys do a lot of your meets and stuff on Sundays and I work

Have any of you 5th gen owners done any research into the Bilstein 6112's?

I've been looking into those quite a bit here and there as I'm trying to plan out my lift future state.

I'm trying to figure out if they are worth the extra cash over the 5100's

From what I've heard it's a good shock. Only downside that I've heard is the ride is a bit softer than the 5100's are. So, body roll isn't minimized to the same extent on turns. There is a thread somewhere in the 5th Gen section on the 6112 that has some good info.

So... any updates from D Farms on the run through Payette? What about the 4 Peaks cleanup from lofreqjeff ? I missed the cleanup this weekend due to the wife running Ragnar and I had taxi duty to soccer and football games... Saturdays are just nuts when the kids have their sports stuff going on.

yeah we went all the way to the waterfall, and i made it over all the obstacles the guys with landcruisers did, although i kept hitting the recovery hook on my front frame rail, but its moveable. and i now want to remove my diff drop, it pushes the skid down and thats one spot i had scraped. all of the trail is bypassable so anyone can go with us, even 2wd. that being said even with my high clearance front bumper I was hitting it quite a few times, and i have 35s and they are moved foreward a couple inches. my buddy pointed out that its a pick your poisob kibd of trail and i agree. surprisingly i only spun a tire once, going over this rock the size of, well it was big.

Jeff is probably just busy (or really hungover :lmao:  ). I know the main guy for the cleanup stayed at the campsite til tonight at least. Jeff might've stayed too. By the sound of the meeting it was pretty successful. I'll let Jeff have the final word when he gets on here lol

If I where to just do the 5100's all the way around with some decent springs... you think I'd have any regrets?
