Thanks for the thought. That's the new style cable with the 19mm plastic head on it. Unfortunately, the one on our 1990 is the early style(ie 16mm metal head). I'm actually considering trying a used one to kill off the noise and bouncy cable syndrome.
I'm still holding out some hope for the regional reps to get one out of Japan. Thanks again.

Ah, bother. I knew it was a second gen, but I thought yours was a '94. Oh well, sorry it won't work!
I'm finding mildly astounding one of the largest automotive and truck companies in the world can not, or is finding it difficult to provide a basic part that tells you how fast(or slow) your going in their vehicle. I would get it, if it was just a basic piece of plastic trim in the interior. Thanks again for the thought. You never know, an NOS cable might pop up some where.
