Why are the V1 5th Gen Trails so rare?

The silver was a one owner from Phoenix, 24k miles, CPO and as close to new condition as new almost. I bought it up. I paid 35k for it, but it was worth every penny to me since I wouldn't have ever bought a face-lifted for any reason. I like the 10-13.

I also like that it's trim isn't badged all over it, and it's got the best of both worlds between the TRDOR and the TRDORP. A sunroof and the water resistant cloth seats. Mine has no nav, just the old school small orange screen and KDSS.
The perefect 5th gen 4runner.

Since I bought it in last July, I've put 18k miles on it. And I don't ever plan on selling it.

I bought my 2010 TE 3 years ago. I had the money to buy a brand new one but I wanted a 10-12.

Buddy just bought a brand new TRDPro. I always tease him. We have the same engine, transmission, locker, crawl control, MTS, plus I have KDSS. And mine was $25k less.

I love mine but the newer front ends (mainly the headlights) are starting to grow on me... but this was a buy and keep forever vehicle.

I bought a 2013 a few years ago specifically because I didn't like the look of the 2014+. I thought they looked like a transformer that's crying. Now the look has grown on me. Plus it's hard to get front bumper options for the older models.

I think the Trail was only about 10% of the production runs in the early years. I'll be keeping mine.

I like the black wheel well liners and door handles instead of body color. Also the black front without that silver center piece and the black roof rack.

My co-driver's first time driving off-road. I did not get back into the left front for 2 hours.

I searched for at least a year for a TE here in the NorthEast until I found my 2013 SR5. Unfortunately I didn't get all the bells and TE whistles with it, but with 38k on a cherry 2013 for $24k out the door I wasn't waiting any longer..just slapped a new set of 265 Falken Wildpeaks on and couldn't be happier, just patiently waiting for my new Bilsteins now and the Blizzard of 2018 :hat: ..oh and that new C4 fabrication lowpro bumper group buy!

Isn't that nice? I have a 2019 TRDOR, so I'm technically not a Trail owner. But it's nice to read all you folks' comments about how much you like and appreciate your vehicles. I know this - I'm thrilled with mine! And like many of you, I plan to keep it forever.

What cracks me up is all the snaky dealerships that know they are rare, (more valuable) so every listing is marked as a Trail model.

One look at the pictures and it obvious it's not a trail model. Between the pics and the vin number I'm not sure who they think they fooling.
