Why didn't you guys just buy a TRDP?

So I have an inferno trdp. One of the reasons I chose inferno besides the fact that I love the color is because it is a limited to the trd pro.

I'm seeing more and more guys taking the sr5 and adding front grill, skids, wheels, badges....so now when I see a white or black trd, I question if it's a real trdp or not.

Why go through all the trouble trying to deceive? Why not just buy a real trd? I have yet come across someone painting their sr5 inferno, and that's the biggest reason I went with the color. There will be many out there as more of you guys justify the cost to covert your ride, but in but I'm not sure someone will go all out and change their white or black trail edition to the inferno color.

My trd cost 42k. Yours was 36-38k? Cost to buy all the trd parts? Time to install? It's got to be up there, especially if you upgrade your suspension.

This question is directed at those who add the trd parts, not those who don't. I didn't want this thread to turn into another war zone for those who think trd pros are not worth it and those that wait months ordering one.

Nothing at all. My question is after upgrading all the parts, the cost is so close to a pro why not just buy a pro? Why buy a base model and then spend time and money making it look like a pro?

Id rather have a superior suspension, ARB locker no hood scoop and money in my pocket.... oh and sorry to all those that made the swap, but the TRD wheels are kinda ghetto IMO. remind me of late 80s BMW wheels.

Thanks. I now have my next 3 mods...white Oakley sunglasses, affliction shirt, and monster energy stickers. I'll have to get approval from the wife and explain to her that I must have these 3 mods in order to be a pro owner...otherwise I'm just a trd poser.

Not referring to you guys spending $$$ on your stage 7 icons and aftermarket metal bumpers... only those who make their sr5's look like a pro and that's it. Wheels, front and rear bumpers mods, skid plate, maybe going the extra mile and adding the pro badges....

maybe they simply like the appearance package on the Pro but want a different color, sunroof and smaller price tag? adding Pro badges is just plain gay, I dont have an answer for gthat

[MENTION=99880]simonsay[/MENTION] I can't speak for those that didn't buy the TRDP, but the reason I didn't buy a Trail is because there wasn't a new one to be found in my region within my timeframe of purchase. Not. A. Single. New. One. The only mildly used one that I found, the dealership was asking new vehicle MSRP and was unwilling to haggle. Plus that one didn't have Entune/NAV and I wanted that more than a hood scoop and a locker that I'd rarely (if ever) use.

I have the intention of modding mine to make it look better eventually, but the $ saved up front and the limited availability forced me to buy an SR5

I never had the pleasure of testing out the kdss. My dealer didn't have one with it in stock at the time. Some love it, other don't care for it. Personally I wouldn't know since I've never experienced the difference.

Sunroof? Ok... I get it. Pros don't come with them.

Color? Maybe, but what got me asking the question were the white and black ones that I've been seeing.

Smaller price tag? Maybe...but the price isn't really that big of a difference after you buy all the trd parts, especially if you're financing it.

I paid about $33k OTD, that is about $7-$9k less than MSRP on a Pro (not even OTD) I can make it look like a pro on steroids for that much. Not sure how financing changes the cost/value.... it actually increases the cost if you want to be technical. I think you are saying if you spread that $9k out over 60+ months it isnt much? while true it still is $9k + interest. I can mod with cash for less and have a more capable rig. the Pro is like a Jeep rubicon..... great off the shelf rig for people that don't want to mod or dont know how to

on the sticker $4k.... you can negotiate an SR5 not so much a TRDP. to be fair I was positive about $1k on my jeep so lets call it $34k out the door. what was your OTD price? $44ish?

I'm really happy for you that you were able to get a TRDP and that you really enjoy it. As I'm sure other are as well. But I think there is a big faction of people on this site that like to tinker to drastically overhaul their 4Rs. Some people actually enjoy working on their rigs, putting it up on jack stands and getting dirty. Sure, it might be easier or even more cost effective to get a TRDP, but I'd think many would agree with me that they would rather get an SR5 or Trail and make their 4R BETTER than a TRDP.
