Why no oil gauge?

Oil? I never put oil in my TEP, the salesman said I could get 400k out of that motor without ever touching the fluids. He's right so far!

Because nobody would understand the outputs. Really.

This^^^. Sad to say though, but true. Most drivers wouldn't know how to read it. I'd love one but that's really my OCD coming out. These trucks are so reliable it's not needed.

I'd like to think many of us to not fit that bill. I know what I'm reading with any gauge and appreciate when I have them.. but sadly dummy lights rule.

Isn't that what an ODB II dongle and a smartphone app are for? I can get a display of most of the sensors with mine, like oil pressure, transmission temp, etc.

Why no oil gauge in a $40000 truck?

the dash display could have been better on the electronic display mode.

some manufacturers have the oil pressure/tranny temp/coolant temp/volts/etc...just push the display button.

no need for a step motor just a digital read not all that expensive just some programing . helps to troubleshoot with these read outs.

also toyota is one of the manufacturers that scan/programmer tools have some issues. very limited data read outs on my scan tool with this vehicle.

on a dodge I get quite a bit of scan tool reads , including the digital OEM reads.

Yeah, that works and is what I do, except I don't think the OBD II system reports oil pressure or temp.

I'd love to have a set of real gauges built in to the cluster. Oil pressure, oil temp, trans temp, battery voltage, and coolant temp (and not the idiot light disguised as a gauge that we have now).
