you say its a "proven fact" do you have any documents to back that up ????
Have you ever wondered why all or most all of the pro teams, that have access to "any" tire, run wider tires ?

Nope! Went with the 285's. Thing is they look narrower and are taller then most 33's. They are somewhere between 285s and 255's, but I think they are as tall as 255's, or close to it.
I measured them on the vehicle with 35PSI and they are 33". Considering tire squish they must be 33.5's at least I would think off the vehicle.

I love that tire size!!
I have 255/85 Cooper Discoverer ST and very happy!!
With 255/85 the drivetrain suffer much less ( cvs, steering wheel, etc ), the rig feels lighter, lighter drivetrain, etc.
Dous, you'll never regret having them!!
Note: I think 255/85 Toyo is the tallest tires of all brands ( in 255/85 of course ) and I also think they wear faster than km2.
Cheers
Yeah but hardly anyone makes 255s in 33"! You can get treadwright 33" 285s for like $113 a piece. 255s will run you like $180 a piece. Huge difference there. Also, the tires you have make a loud "wah-wah-wah-wah" noise when driving, more so on the highway. The way I see it, fellas, get some treadwright 33" 285s for offroading and some Michelin LTX M/S2 for the 90% of the time the truck is used on road! You win both ways. A nice rolling tire for the road and a nice offroading tire when you need it.
If you have 17" wheels treadwright makes a 255/75/17 for $108 a piece

here is recommendation to the OP, find out what other wheelers in your area are running, what do they like for the terrain that you will be wheeling, what tires dont they like, just an idea
Which treadwright tire did you go with? Warden? Backbone or MudGuard? And in "D" or "E"? It's shame that treadwright does not have any 33" 255s! :ybrick:
If I did that I would be running 39" Thornbirds on a 6" drop bracket
So no, I have plenty of experience in the area and have been beating on these 4runners for long enough to know what I want. I am getting sick of breaking front end components by having big, wide, heavy tires.
So I will give the 255's a shot, if they are no good, well I will know next time

more rubber contact on the rocks, generaly means better grip.

Dous the only reason I'd be skeptical about getting KM2's is the weak sidewall. I know J-money$$$ and Mr.Leary had this problem. Specifically Mr.Leary who had 255/85's. Toyos will be way quieter than KM2's.
The fact that you have mentioned thornbirds twice makes me question how much you really know about what makes a good offroad tire.
