Well, putting aside all the useless bashing about you making a phone call to your insurance agent and finally making them work for all the money they soak up to get reimbursed on damage that occurred at a crappy car wash you openly admitted was a mistake, all the sun roofed vehicles I owned in the past either came with the deflectors from the dealership or didn't come with one at all. The ones that didn't usually have little deflectors that lift up to accomplish the same thing which (if your's is like mine) the 3rd gen 4Runner does. At this point they are mostly cosmetic unless you like the added rain protection feature but most people I know don't run with their sunroofs open in the rain...
When I run with my sun roof open I honestly can't tell a difference from the ones that did have them. Even my t-top MR2 has the pop-up deflectors with the tops removed and sounds just as quiet. YMMV.

I know it's not a big deal, but the exterior of my runner is mint, so I'm a bit miffed. Yeah, why would someone who wants to keep their ext. mint go to a gas-station car wash? :doh:
Yeah full coverage, but the place will cut me a check I'm sure. I just hope it's enough to help me get some goodies for the runner

I've ran my truck through CarSpa a few times, if you happen to have one of those. I use them occasionally because they come with free vaccuming and thats huge for me. My vaccum at home sucks, and not in a good way.
I have a OEM Toyota sunroof wind deflector and it has been through countless car washes. I typically wash my own truck, as I can take up to a few hours in detailing. But when I need a quicky, I've had very little issues
A brand new Car Spa destroyed my hood deflector and I took the opportunity to buy a fancy one. The wash was free because they had just opened and apparently were tuning their systems, so for the first week everyone was a guinea pig. The Car Spa has a sign that states that they aren't responsible for anything aftermarket broken on your vehicle so I didn't bother to complain. The blowers at the end of the wash fractured the plastic in multiple places. Paid $50 for the new AVS hood deflector and called it a day.
AVS also states their product is "Virtually indestructible," so naturally I take that as a challenge.
