Will a full size mountain bike fit inside?

On longer trips and if space allows, I prefer bikes inside for the added security/peace of mind; also helps keep components free from road grime. Otherwise I routinely use a oneup rack simply because it’s more convenient.

I use RockyMounts Driveshafts fork mounts secured to plywood I installed for making the cargo area level with second row seats folded down.

Two Bikes in 4R

I carry two mountain bikes inside my 2020 4R with seat folded down, I have a Save A Load SL-10 bar with two accessory bike fork mounts installed. The Save A load uses hydraulic pressure with soft rubber pads to secure safely without any damage to interior plastic side panels. Bikes stay dry and securely out of sight inside my 4R.

I just picked up a large size (S5) Specialized Gen3 Turbo Levo. It's a big long bike and just barely fits in with the front wheel on the bike, and lifting the back up a bit over the folded rear seats. I always use a rack though. Not interested in putting in a super muddy cruddy mountain bike in the back of the car. Nice for security if you stop somewhere to have the bike inside the car. I am using a Saris rack and it is burly and can handle electric mountain bikes. Only downside is if you add the extension and have 4 racks it is very very heavy and a pain to deal with. I have one of the new QuikRStuff racks on order but lead time is 6 months.

I know, strange question, but It looks like it will, but also it seems I can be fooled by something. I do not have one, hardly ever been around them (so I do not have a true size in my head), but do want to purchase my first bicycle sometime soon.

I am wondering if a full size, for adults, mountain bike can fit inside with the seats obviously folded down. If one can fit, I assume two can also.

I do not want to get a bike rack or anything, just toss the bikes inside. I want to make sure they fit ahead of time so when I go to buy one, I am not in that awkward situation of having no way to transport it home.

And yes, I searched but came across good info only about bike racks, and one thread someone said they hauled two bikes inside their 4th gen (front tire off), not sure if that translate to the 5th gen though.

I used to own a 2016 Yeti SB6C size L. I used to remove the front wheel and lower the dropper post all the way. With both seats folded down i could back the bike into the car and brace it by pressing the dropper trigger to raise the seat up against the roof. It provided 4 points of contact between each side of the fork, the rear tire, and the saddle pressing against the roof. Worked like a charm. Just look up the dimensions of that year bike to see if it’ll work for you. (FYSA, wont work with my XL SB150, too long, just get a Kuat rack instead.)

Better to keep all of your stuff inside due to security measures. I carry my kid's bikes with detachable wheels?(here are specs), no other way
