For Christmas my wife surprised me with a Warn 8000 winch. I had been thinking about adding a winch to the truck, but it's not something that I can see myself actually needing very often. I can only think of one time that I've needed a pull (and I might not have needed that if I had my TE). Then a friend gave me a BB winch plate after his bumper upgrade, so now I have everything that I need!
My questions are:
1.) Will the added weight of the winch + plate have any impact on the driving dynamics of the truck? I've never owned a winch, so I was fairly surprised by how heavy they are. And the plate is heavy duty as well.
2.) Should I plan on needing any suspension upgrades after the install? I am currently stock with KDSS in that regard.
3.) Where do you guys recommend mounting the control box?
I really enjoy the truck and how it drives, so I just want to be sure that I'm not sacrificing anything in that regard by adding the extra weight up front. Thanks for any thoughts.
