Window Weatherstripping Replacement

Thanks all! Antman I think that is the process for the inner window weatherstripping! Which will probably be next on the list. Deep.. you are correct.

After an adult beverage and looking at the new pieces I gave it a shot, figuring there was only 1 clip that was actually holding in. 30 min later all 5 outer weatherstripping pieces were done. $600 my as* Findlay Toyota Flagstaff. This really could not be any easier. You just have to be careful when removing not to scratch the paint on your door.

Here is the process......In order of photos.....

1)Buy parts...
Front Drivers- 75712-35011
Front Passen- 75711-35011
Rear Drivers- 75721-35011
Rear Passen - 75722-35011
Rear Hatch- 68292-35041
2)Locate the clip on the specific part you are replacing and locate it on the one thats on the truck.
3)PRY UP CAREFULLY. I used a standard screwdriver wrapped in duct tape. Deep a plastic putty knife is a good idea. THIS IS THE PART TO BE CAREFUL WITH. You can scratch your paint pretty easily if you are not careful. Use your fingernail to get the weatherstrip piece up, then use your tool to go under it and keep going up. You will probably break the plastic clip off, but you thats okay. Just use pressure and get it up and off.
4)Grab the now loose piece, and start working it out of the channel it is in by the mirror, once that is done you can pull it straight up and back.
5)Throw the broken piece at your neighbor.
6)Clean off any left over plastic crap.
7)Start installing the new piece with the end in the mirror channel first. Then working it down until the clip os in its home. Press down firmly over the entire length to ensure a tight fit.
8) REPEAT!! The rear doors have 2 clips and the hatch window has none. The hatch you will end up mutilating, but thats okay. It installs as easy as the others.
9) Enjoy adult beverage and your work!!!
Thank you for posting this. I was able to follow and easily tackle this during a lunch break. I love this forum!

I’m needing to replace the weatherstripping on my rear window. I have the new one on order, but it won’t be here till next week. Until then, If I get caught in rain, what kind of issues will I be looking at? Anybody have issues from water intrusion in the rear hatch?

Replacement of the rear piece took me about 10 minutes. That included cleaning the window and area of door that the strip covers. There was a lot of dust underneath the trim piece. I used a plastic trim tool to remove the original. It was almost as easy as changing the air filter.

Another fine example of why this forum is awesome. Thanks chitown616 for this thread. I bought the parts as specified, the followed the instructions including the adult beverage. Fantastic.

Just replaced 4 mouldings on my 2011 SR5. Pretty easy. The hardest part was cleaning the rubber residue off the paint. Not sure if the originals were glued down or it was just decomposing rubber. A little alcohol and some elbow grease and it cleaned up nicely. Still a 30 minute job. Update for 2021 the mouldings from Camelback Toyota were $43.24 each and with shipping (Tucson) and tax came to $200. Thanks for the photos. Made the job easier.

Really helpful thread

I too followed the instructions and it worked out perfectly. Made the mistake of thinking I could use non-Toyota parts..Nope, they're junk. Ordered from Tustin Toyota. Good prices, free shipping.

What about these

These are way cheaper then the ones listed in the thread-

Karmoxs Weatherstrip Window Seal for Toyota 4Runner 2010-2021 Door Outside Trim Seal Belt Black Upgrade Model 4Pcs (KAR005) https://a.co/d/6dar5OY

Thoughts?

windshield seals

My driver side windshield stripping is coming off, is it all 1 piece around the windshield and can i do it myself or should i go to a windshield repair place? thanks.

Thanks for this thread just completed all four windows. It was pretty quick after the first one and the instruction were very good. I do think a couple of part numbers may have been reversed from the beginning thread I believe mine were rear passenger 75721-35011 and rear drivers 75722-35011 or it could have been the adult beverage during the process.

Yeah, the original material description was incorrect. I’ve still got my left side moldings, I ordered all four but only needed the passenger side.
Looks like they fix the desc. on the website.
This is what I’ve got…

Front Left: 75712-35011
Front Right: 75711-35011
Rear Right: 75721-35011
