So I searched here to see what others where paying for a Windshield for their 5th Gen T4R, so I'm creating this thread for others to post cost, what was included (heating, UV/sun-shield, rear-view mirror sensor, etc). This way, we can get a standard range of a part that can range from a few hundred to six to seven hundred. I will start!
Year: 2013
Vehicle: 4Runner SR4 (Premium<- yeah I know, this doesn't actually exist)
Windshield Requirements: Heater, UV, Rear-View Mirror sensor.
Location: Denver, Colorado
Warranty: Lifetime with minor crack-repair for a year.
Windshield Cost: N/A
Installed Cost: N/A
Total Cost: $225
The automotive shop gave me a single complete cost that included taxes of $225 and no breakdown.
Now, we all know that windshields vary in quality, so this will be tough but it's a starting point. What we do know is that most windshields have to meet a minimum standard, so by assuming all are the lowest quality and build from there. Why, because in Colorado some of the rocks that hit your windshield it will not make a difference if it the toughest or not... it going to get cracked.
POWER TIP: Checkout Amazon Local, Living Social and Groupon for great coupons. Many windshield installers give the price based on assuming you are going to use a coupon and simply make more money if you don't.
POST INSTALL TIP 1: If you hear wind noise coming any where from the windshield after the install, it IS a bad install because they didn't get a proper seal with the adhesive.
POST INSTALL TIP 2: Roll down your back rear window just a crack (0.5-1") to not allow any pressure to buildup inside the truck. Pressure against a newly installed windshield could cause the adhesive or seal to not set properly.
