Quick question.
is the rear windshield washer fed from the same unit as the front? Sorry let me clarify. Is there just one place to fill it up?

Also what solution do you use? I live in Las Vegas so I hardly never need a one that goes below freezing, most of the ones I have tried leave a nasty white dry mark on my windshield when it drys out? and I hate that, any ideas?

No, there are individual pumps, and they sit side-by-side. My rear one failed and was replaced under wty. If you're having that problem, troubleshoot by swapping the delivery hoses.

I've had pretty good success with the Rain-X All-Season washer fluid.

didn't know that. I'll take a look next time i pop the hood. thanks buddy
 
Here in central California, we cannot even buy the all season or winter formula washer fluid. All we can get (year round) is summer formula.

It is some kind of asinine environmental thing, we deal with a lot of that kind of stuff here. (We cannot even have a fire in our fireplaces anymore, unless it happens to be a day they say it is OK.)

So I have to stop in at an auto parts store and stock up on winter formula whenever I go to Nevada.

Actually early morning lows in the twenties are common in the winter here and every once in a while the teens too.

But I sometimes travel to the mountian areas for work and leave my vehicle parked outside at a motel overnight, it is nice to be able use the windshield washer if I want to.

But I agree with your point about it leaving residue on the windows, I kind of hate to use it to clear bugs or something because of the mess the fluid makes where it dries.

Me too I almost hate having to use my washer sometimes
 
OK, can anyone help me track down some Rain‑X® All-Season Windshield Washer Fluid.......Have they stopped making this stuff I can't find it anywhere in Nevada or even on line?
 
OK back to my first question...My rear washer has stopped working, by that I mean the wiper moves but the water does not come out?
The front washer works fine, is the rear washer fluid fed from the same washer container as the front?
I know that there are two different pumps, but before I disconnect them and flip them over to see if it's the pumps I just want some clarification if indeed they are fed from the same sourch.

BTW the rear window is all the way up and the wiper is moving.

Or, if you suspect electrical, just swap the wires.
 
Yeah I just re-read my post and was like Durgh!!!!
Anyway, I did find something out today, when your rear washer stops working it's like an indication that your fluid level is running low, on the way to the store today I washed the front and low and behold the water ran out.

What did I learn today?
The 4 runner does not have a light that comes on when your washer fluid is low.
When the rear fluid runs out it's time to top up your washer fluid.
Don't make stupid posts before your first cup of coffee in the morning.

I filled up my fwasher fluid and now all is well.

fluid warning light

when my fluid ran out I thought there wasn't a fluid warning light either but if you take a look at the repair manual (page 3757) it indicates that there is a fluid warning switch. So who has seen there light come on when out of washer fluid? I haven't...
 
rainx orange stuff, been using for years and works great, makes a big difference. you can get it at advance or for a better deal walmart. usually 2.50/gal.
 
Can anyone confirm for me that they've seen an indicator light on the dash when they are out of washer fluid? I ran out twice and never got any warning and I can see a wire to a sensor attached to the fluid reservoir. Definitely won't to point this out the next time I'm at the dealer. Thanks.

According to the owners manual Sec. 2-2/Warning lights, the windshield washer low warning symbol has a (Canada) in parentheses under it meaning it's only for Canadian models.
That's why they pay so much more for theirs!
