I said initially that I was going to leave my new 4R stock but naturally I decided to do a few mods. My 4R is a 2010 LTD black. I was going to leave it bone stock because this is my around town vehicle due to having a lifted 2008 Tundra that I use primarily for offroading and towing.

But after being on this site since I purchased the 4R I couldnt help myself.

This is her the day I got her:

Since this picture was taken less than a month ago I have sold the stock 20's and went with 18" Fuel Hostage wheels and wrapped them in Cooper AT3's.

I removed the running boards and have not decided what kind I want to put on if any. I had the front windows tinted to 18% today and I am installing a Toytec leveling kit tomorrow. All of the chrome accent pieces are going to be wrapped in 3M flat black vinyl wrap next week when I get the time. I am leaving all the gunmetal exposed on the decals and the roof rack so that it can stand out a bit. If I dont like it that way I will wrap that also. Lots planned in the next few weeks and I will adding pics as the mods are completed.

For the door handles, instead of wrapping you can order the Canadian SR5 door handles in black. I went with the silver to get rid of the crummy chrome ones.

I did not know that. That is definitly something to think about.

That Tundy is a beaut! Once your 4R is leveled out, chrome accents gone, and possibly new Canadian handles as Mikey mentioned above.... its gonna be sick!

I don't think so because they are off an SR5. Someone else will surely verify this though. I blacked out everything except for my door handles and I don't mind it that way FWIW.

Looking at the parts list for the limited door handles on ToyotaPartSales.com it looks like you can get the painted ones.

But I would say to double check just to be on the safe side.

I would say the door handles are going to be the same across the board except for the front driver side which on the limited wont have a key but on mine it does. Yeah I don't have the fancy smart key.

What ribbed things are you referring to? I think snooper is referring to the ribbed things on the door handles.

Real question is do you have the smart key AKA push button start or the standard key. If you got the standard I am pretty sure they canadian ones will work.

They are on the door handles of the LTD. I believe they hold the sensors that will lock and unlock the doors automatically for you. This is for the smart key with the push button start.

Well I finally put the leveling kit on today. I put the 2" Toytec spacer on the front and the front sits about a 1/4" lower than the back. Good for now until I figure out if I want to go with the Toytec Ultimate lift kit or not.

Next up is the blacking out off all chrome. That will hopefully get completed this weekend.

Must say the 5th Gen looks good with just a leveling kit. Keep posting up the pics as the build continues

I got around to blacking out the chrome strips around the bottom tonight. For the drivers side and the rear I put playing card in the groove to block the over spray along with some drop cloth material and taped it off really good. What a PITA that was. Pulling the cards out after the painting was done was terrible. The cards ended up getting wet in the grooves and portions of the cards decided to tear and stay in the grooves. So I had to use a razor blade to get the remainder of the cards out and had to respray both the drivers side and back. I decided to tape off the front and passenger sides and that was a lot easier. It turned out pretty good I must say. Hopefully the 5 coats will last a good while. Here are the pics:

Decals and the removal of the pinstripes are next. I am probably going to leave the door handles as is unless I buy the black Canadian 4runner OEM set. Can I buy black roof rails so I dont have to paint the ones that are stock? If so where can I get them at a decent price? More pics to come as the updates progress.

Finally able to post some new pics. The running boards are gone, the decals are blacked out, pinstripes removed and both the front grill and rear door hatch have been blacked out. Up next are the door handles and the roof rack.
