Wiper Won't Return

Recently purchased a lightly used 11 SR5 4wd. After our first rain shower, I noticed the driver side wiper won't return to its parking place, it points up at a 15 deg angle or so. Just wondering if this is a common issue. Its still under warranty, just have to find the time to take it in.

Does the drivers side stop moving before the other wiper stops or do they both stop at the same time? Can you move the drivers side manually into it's proper location after they are turned off? If they both stop at the same time, the driver side might just need to be repositioned on the shaft.

I haven't paid enough attention to see if it stops at a different location than the pass side. I can't move the drivers side independently.

It shouldn't need to be repositioned on the shaft, that would imply it moved. When we bought the truck, the wiper returned to the correct parking place. Its got to be in the motor/linkage

This happened to my wife's Lexus...I messed around with it and it turns out the nut holding the wiper arm on was loose...tightened it up and it worked fine. You might give that a look-see before heading to the dealer.

As stated ,probably either the nut or the linkage.Take it to a dealer or DIY by checking the nut to make sure it's not loose . If you operate them very long with the nut loose it will strip the serrations.

Like some others have mentioned. Probably needs to be adjusted on the post. I would have the dealer do it since it's under warranty. It will take them 2 seconds to do it and if it's something more your covered.

Windshield was probably replaced at some point and the wiper removed to facilitate the maintenance.

As others have mentioned: loose nut, windshield replacement, etc. It does look like the drivers side blade is "out-of-sync" with the passenger side from your pic. Did you check to see how far the wiper goes on the "up swing"? If it is trying to jump off the windshield, it sure would need to be adjusted. I just checked my wipers to see if I could reproduce the "off parking" look, but it affected both blades, not just the one. If you just barely tap "up" on the wiper wand for a "mist" swipe, it is possible to have the blades rest just above the parking position. But, the next time you start and stop the wipers, they should both park as designed.

Sounds like a simple fix...loosen nut, adjust blade position, snug nut, test, if ok then tighten nut and enjoy.

What about just checking to make sure the wiper is all the way on. I know when I put my aftermarket wipers on if I did not install it correct it looked like your above picture.

Ha, actually going to the dealer today to see about scheduling service.

Dropped it off today, took them less time to fix it than it took me to get to work from the dealer, doh! Nut was loose holding the wiper to the mechanism.

Holy crap my new SR5 have this problem since I first drove it home. I just ignored it thinking toyota engineers must have designed it this way. With someone mentioning about windshield replacement should I be worried that that came like that from dealer new? Would tinker with said bolt when I get the time before resorting a trip to dealer.
