Wiring PIAA fog lights on the Gobi roof rack

Below are some pictures and steps on how I wired the PIAA fog lights on the Gobi roof rack. This might or might not be correct, so I would appreciate feedback / comments.
My goal was to install these lights without drilling through the roof. Therefore, I routed 2 x 18 gauge wires (2 sets) on each side of the front windshield underneath the rubber guard.

The PIAA light assembly comes with a wiring harness, but it’s too short. Therefore, I purchased 50 feet of 18 gauge wire to run down the windshield.

1. I put some masking tape over the windshield post to avoid any scratches while you are routing the wires underneath the molding.
2. Pop the plastic cover at the bottom of the side post where it goes into the engine compartment
3. Routed 2 wires (2 x 18 gauge) on each side of the car. This will allowed me to wire 4 fog lights
4. I cut the wiring harness that came with the lights and used the provided quick connect by the fog lights. I connect the routed wires to the harness provided. Inside the engine compartment, I put plenty of tie-wraps to keep things neat & in-place.
5. I mounted the relays on the side of the engine compartment and routed 2 wires for the switches through the existing firewall gasket.

Thanks for posting the pics. I'm getting ready to wire my rack lights and was originally going to run them out of the rear. My only concern is that I am running 16g for my pods and 12g for my light bar.

You might be able to fit a 12ga if it's a single wire. 2 or 3 shielded wires might not fit.
Even with the 18ga I had issues and had to continue pushing it down into the molding

My apologies as i am actully running 16g and 14g. How many wires did you run? I have 8 16g wires and 2 14g.

I run 4 18g wires on each side of the windshield. When is say 4, I mean 2 sets of wires, each with 2 x 18g wires inside. To hook up 1 fog light, you only need 1white and 1black wire. All the rest of the stuff is inside the engine compartment.
If you running a light bar, you might not have an option to split them up and run wires for 2 fog lights on the left side and the other 2 on the right
