[With Pics] Rotopax Installed Inside

Just in case anyone was ever wondering like I was, here is how I did it. I used 1 1/2 screws to take out any safety concerns. I wanted to install them behind my seats since i don't plan on buying a roof rack anytime soon.









I pretty much just laid the packs on them as a template and drilled one screw in and measured it again.







I then traced out the mount and cut accordingly.

I think it looks really nice and clean, don't get me wrong. Just a bit pricey, especially the gas rotopax, $120 for 4 gallons is nuts.

Totally understandable! For me, it comes down to personal preference. Right now this option is a little more viable. I still would like to have the flexibility to maintain my cargo real estate, but a security draw is definitely in the plans for the future!

I figured as much. VERY expensive route to take for a TINY amount of cargo and a few gallons of water, haha.

It costs more. You get more expo points when it costs more. Can't be ruggedly elegant with any old gas can and rubbermaid tote.

Do you have to put both seats down at the same time? In other words are the seats connected together now? Can you put just one seat down and leave the other up?

Thanks! You dont have to. If you look where both of the PaX connect there is a little black clip that keeps them together. If you disconnect, you're able to open both individually.

Those are to secure a car seat/baby seat in addition to using the seat belt to secure it in place.... I think only found on 2000-2002 4runners

If you shop around they aren't that expensive...i paid a little less that retail for the Storage PaX. I got a really good deal on the Water PaX. I didn't want the Gas PaX because I have some NATO Jerry Cans that i'm going to mount on my roof rack when i decide to purchase it.

What is the safety of carrying gasoline inside? or even outside? Diesel is non-flammable and safe to carry.

In west TX, I find gas stations in every 30 -50 miles and I used to carry 5 gallons of gas inside the truck. I pump Shell and hard to find those in 50- 100 miles, so my gas can is really helpful. But I stopped carry gas inside or even on roof rack solely for safety.

What options we have to carry gas safely. I hate toyota for making such a tiny tank for these trucks. Prado that uses the same frame got 2 tanks!

No they are shit. No idea why they have a lock, you can bend the cross strap and push apart the other straps. Suppose its enough to keep it on the truck, but not enough to keep it from people.
