Yeah, i did come across alot of those. thing is, i already owned a 10yr old F150, and had been driving pick ups for most of my life. so that was never an issue for me. i always thought about, or wanted to see, who the reviewer was...he couldnt have been any guy who had ever had a REAL job. brick laying, roofing, anything where you got your hands dirty. I mean, if i drove around in brand new lux vehicles for a living, driving around in a Runner might seem harsh and unusual punishment too...but im a guy, and i needed a TRUCK with a little comfort thrown in for good measure.

and i needed it to NOT have any hidden issues that would only come out AFTER the nationwide recall of half a million other vehicles.

and i believe i have found it...thanks for all of the responses...

and for the record, my ONLY issue, my power lumbar is busted...taking it to the dealer next week for what i hope to be a warranty fix.

could be worse, you could be the driver behind some of these sprayers that shoot 1.5 cars behind you.

I did the exact same level of research and felt really bad for Jeep owners in the end. Picked up a 4x4 limited and have never looked back.
 
My biggest complaint is the tranny taking so long to shift back down a gear after dropping one up hills. Usually only happens when using cruise control and isn't all the time but when it happens it holds a gear for an unusual amount of time after the top of the hill.

Might have something to do with being lifted on 285's but who knows.

nope happens even on my stock LE. think is has something to do with back pressure (from what I was told from older gens). but then again on hills we have and the wind (always 15-25 mph winds) it always kicks down a gear.

so to get around this issue, I just flip the gearshift to sport mode until I hit the top of the hill and pop it back into drive mode.

if I goto sport mode w/ CC on it upshifts correctly, if I let the CC + computer do it automatically it never upshifts.

This is my primary complaint as well. At times, my 2006 SR5 tranny seemed to get what I would call, "confused". This only occurred when going downhill whenever I would coast and then have to vary my speeds for whatever reason.

To combat this issue, what I did in my 06 that I also do in my 15 now on hills that aren't too terribly long is to downshift to 4th gear and leave it there (provided the RPMs don't get too high). That way, it kicks off the overdrive, which I think is what contributes to this funky issue. YMMV.
 
Tranny on my '15 Pro was replaced at 4700 miles. Wouldn't go into gear. The dealer said that in all of the western region, mine is the earliest mileage that any of our model of transmission has gone out in the 4Runner, Taco, or FJ.

Also had the issue with my TRD skid plate.

Exact same problem here with a stock LE on stock tires. I've got an uninterrupted 12 mile commute on straight roads up and down rolling hills. Cruise control hunts up and down 3-4 mph. I've complained and they told me nothing was wrong. Probably could remedy this with different tranny, but once again, the current one is tried and true.
Annoying but not the end of the world.
 
As a new owner of a 15 TE, the antenna is on the rear glass now BUT if you have the window de-ice/heater on, you actually lose radio reception. Ive never lost radio reception sitting in the driveway but as soon as I turned off the deice, BAM reception came back. Unknown flaw?? Possibly.

As for my beefs, hate the nose dive and the lady that consistenly tells you, you have an incoming call, every second unless you do something about it.
 
no posts about the crappy paint? my 15 is only 6 months old and has rock chips and scratches everywhere.......I should probably return it
 
It's gotta be one of the most dependable , maybe 2nd gen 3.0 V6 & that's fixable with doing the 3.4 switch, plus I really liked the true tailgate (beer league softball) . 4th gen manifold probs on both V6 & V8 . I mean this is all nitpicking really gotta be a few lemons in every batch ! And you can fix pass. seat by dropping bracket down LTSDC did his on his 4th . I dig mine & I thought they were butt ugly at 1st !

I agree with you on the paint, the quality sucks. Having a white vehicle really shows a lot of those pinhole size rust spots too.
