Worst Problem with 5th gen??

I was discussing this with a buddy recently. I have no real complaints with my truck. I do wish a few things were different, mainly just nicer. Keyless entry on the trd pro, remote start that didn't require you to restart the car on entry, leather seats(softex isn't bad), cooled/ ventilated seats(Texas is hot AF), windows that aren't different shades/ hard to match with new tint, power band is too high/ makes the truck feel slower than it is, navigation system is kind of dated, but at least it's responsive, premium stereo should be an option on trd pro, black headliner/ plastics. That should do it.

I have not had mine very long, but the instrument cluster leaves a lot to be desired... looks like it belongs in a toy, not a Toyota...:suspicious:

I like the layout and functionality. The LED should be bigger and I would like a few more gauges but it is an improvement over the '13s and earlier.

The MPG display has been spot on for my first 2 tanks and it looking like a 3rd also.

AC (non)Functionality

I have a 2013 4R Limited. From the start, the blower on the AC has not worked properly. It generally does not blow as the settings would indicate. For example, with the setting on "LO", and not on "AUTO", the fan on the highest setting, the fan most of the time blows at a low rate. Also it will blow at varying speeds. When going in for service, tech says that they cannot reproduce problem and returns vehicle as working properly. This done 3 times. The regional service rep out of Denver was consulted with the same response. Meanwhile, it's over 100 outside and my vehicle is not cooling as it should.

Tailgate lights

I love the fact that the tailgate has two lights but the fact that there isn't a single button or switch for both is annoying. I miss my jeep with the push in rear dome light that turned off/on all inside lights with a single push. Need to fab something up

My biggest issue in my 2014 trail premium are random noises coming from the sunroof ,plastic pice above glove box and most recent a squeaky stretch sound coming from the passengers back seat . All noises come and go .

Sorry, smart key.

No, no, NO.....

We have the smart key on our Toyota Venza and more than once it's frozen up, making us roast in the summer heat while the computer recycles and may or may not actually turn the engine over.

A true truck based vehicle with true 4 WD using technology that could get you stuck faster than the deepest mudbog??

Fugetabouit, and let me have a normal key (X 100) !!

I agree with the hood bouncing around especially in the middle. I got a 2015 SR5 rental and noticed this.

The paint on the window pillars on the front doors got scratched up during some work, thankfully the shop has an awesome PDR guy who can make them look good again. Paint on the outside getting scratched? yeah I can live with that if it's from offroad use. Inside? no! That bugs me to no end.

Honestly the biggest annoyance is the rear wiper being damn near useless and the hood bounces around a LOT under vibration. Seriously what is up with that?! /seinfeld

1. The driveshaft sometimes makes a clunk that apparently doesn't damage anything if I'm sitting at a stoplight and start to drive.....

Mine does this. I thought the guy behind me hit me....then I noticed there was nobody behind me. My dealer cannot even recreate it but it happens all the time in that moment between moving from brake to throttle.

I am not convinced that it is not creating a future problem though.

The rubber window gaskets on my '10 SR5 were tearing after 3 years...surprising and annoying.
The window gaskets on my '01 Limited are still perfect.

There's a TSB for that. Try searching for a thread on here called something like "driveshaft clunky thumpy" I think.

Only issues I've had were a replaced passenger axle at 25,000 miles and now both my lower control arm bushings are toast at 38,000 miles. Other than that I love it.

the Backup camera...well, sort of.

all of a sudden the woman that i am related to by marriage cant simply look at a clear tv screen to see where she's backing up. Though she has no problem looking at a tv screen any other time of the day...hmmm

"its too big, i cant see back there, and i can't use this screen"

well dear, toyota was kind enough to give you this clear image of what it looks like behind you...why not try and utilize it, just a suggestion.

And all of this consternation after 5grand worth of lasik...smh.

i can see my motorcycle trembling with fear every time she is backing it in
