This is when I got it. Picked it up at auction for a decent price. It had a single owner all of its life in Sparks, Nevada and I was glad to bring her back to proper form.

Removed the bumper, fender, headlights, grill to see the carnage to the fender wall. There wasn't too much damage, looked like I needed new headlights, grill, radiator, radiator support, fender, fender lining, hood, and plate bumper.

Overall the runner was in decent condition

Finally bought the air raid intake pipe to do away with the OEM intake silencer.
From the research I have done, it just adds more engine noise and perhaps better throttle response, but no actual horsepower. I was fine with that.

Very simple install, but can require some force to get it into place if you have a body lift like I do. Once you have a body lift your engine drops the amount your body is lifted so the intake doesn't have perfect alignment.

Thanks brotha, There was so many little things have also been done to the truck regarding maintenance, but pictures weren't taken. Oh well!

E-locker axle swap write up soon and then rear bumper build.

Way to bring this thing back to life! Reminds me a lot of my rig. I might need to pick up those front bump stops. I have Plasticguy's rear stops and they are sweet.

It wasn't anywhere near dead, but yeah that front end needed some work, apron needed to be pulled out and straightened.

dooo it!!

Damn. I knew I should've gone with those. (I made a last minute decision to go 17 after I ordered my 1" BL)

If paying full price, I wouldn't get them, would probably get the five spoke from FN wheels.

Couple weekends back I ended up swapping my rear axle for an elocked axle from another 3rd gen 4runner with the help of my brother and mtbtim aka Timmy the Toolman. I also ended up swapping the front diff to match the gearing in the rear axle. I will re-gear at some point in the future, but I didn't want to be out $1500 for the re-gear right now.

here is the video on how to do the axle swap and the wiring
https://youtu.be/qAznG_WoS44

picked up the complete elocked rear axle for $550 with the locker ECU, ECU pigtail, switch, switch pigtail.

Sold my open diff rear axle for $250

Trailer wire 16 gauge 6 conductor cost me about $25 for 15 feet

Paint for the axle was another $20 and I replaced the axle seals while I had it open, decided against doing bearings for now.

It was wired up to the OEM switch and ECU so it works like OEM, the dash will blink when the locker is trying to engage and then it stays solid when its engaged.

Bonus: the switch is lit when any of the other cluster lights are on(this was a factory option in Tacomas, but didn't exist in the 4runners for some reason) just needed to add two wires/pins to the switch itself. Instructions in the video.

Link for when the wiring starts

Inspired me so much that I did the same !!!

We're gonna have to adventure together once my rig is all fixed up and ready to go.

Waiting on you brotha, and hurry up and move back to California. Two wrenchies is better than one.

Love your rig. Especially jealous of the hood scoop. Ive been looking for a while in Utah, and theyre hard to snatch up!

I got really lucky and was able to get one from a dismantler for $300 in ThunderCloud silver. I was repainting the front end anyway so the hood was matched to the body color.

You have no idea how bad I wanna be back in CA.

Plus, I need your expertise when working on my rig !

Come through in October to wrench and we can hit up Eagle Lake for some good wheelin.
