Just to confirm, will I be able to mount my new wheels without tpms sensors if I disable the system?

Advance Auto should carry em. They go by a different name though. "Splice Connector" iirc. I used the red ones, blue may work as well

Worked for me
Just did this to my 2006 SR5 v8 4wd. Easiest mod ever! Jumpered the Pink-Black to the White black as in the photograph on the original post. I skipped the slice thingy and just used short bit of telco wire pressed in the back of the white connector for the two target pins. No more blinking light.

I just did this mod today. I used a small blue scotchlok connector.
The agonizing over it all was wayyyyyyy more than the mod itself.
However, now the "MAINT" light blinks 6 times every time I start her.
When I bought her she had 110k and now has 111.5k.
Could be a coincidence of the maintenance computer not being reset but no "MAINT" light till I did this mod.
Any thoughts or experience with this

Reset your maintenance light, or you tapped into your flux capacitor and you need to hit 88 mph before the sixth flash.....

Fml. Tried this today, the light only flashed off once, and is still shining it's ugly face at me. I used the blue schlock connector, I'll try the red one this weekend. I will report back.

I know. I did the research. I wasn't familiar with the reliability of their sensors so I went with OEM parts.

Worked like a charm for me after I swapped to trd wheels. If you are having issues, your ground is poor.

Been subscribed to this thread forever thinknig at some point the TPMS battery(s) would fail or in my case a slow leak in the valve stem area. It's a 04 Limited that spent the first 6 years in Ohio and now the last in MD. The rims were beat.
So I made a trip to Tirerack in DE and picked up new shoes. Just swapped the 4, kept the spare in place.
No blinking light! It was on a few weeks ago after the 4runner sat for 2 weeks while on vacation so I know the TPMS was working then.
Drove 40miles to work this am and no light. Not sure why.

Check the pressure on the new tires. It might've dropped a few weeks ago when it got colder outside, then the shop pumped the new tires up and TPMS was happy again.

I've seen this happen before. If your shed is close by your 4Runner, then you must still have proper PSI in your old tires. Because once your 4Runner is close enough to your old sensors and registers them at 0 or low psi the light will turn on. I've gotten away with this for a few weeks until all of a sudden the light turned on again.

I confess I haven't read this whole thread, but I am curious as to how this TPMS works. I was under the impression that it worked off of wheel speed, when the ECM detected one or more wheels not up to the speed of the others, indicating lower pressure than the others (the reason the button must be reset, at least in my wife's '07 Sienna. I don't mind the sensor so much, but it seems with a few more lines of code it can tell which tire is lower.
