Write-up: How to Disable (Bypass) the TPMS

I tried to do this (except with the pink/black and black/red wires) with my '08 V8 Limited and couldn't get it to work. I even tried it with the pink/black and white/black wires just to be sure.
A couple of ideas:
1) Will the TPMS light be off immediately when starting the vehicle, or does it take a while for it to reset after this operation?
2) I couldn't get the paperclip (any of them) to go in and engage/grab in the harness, even with a lot of force. They just went in a bit and kind of just sat there, so it felt like I wasn't making proper electrical contact. I even tried safety pins to get a sharp entrance point and got the same result. Maybe the gauge is too big on a paper clip?
What gives? Thanks!

Sounds like a bad contact on your bypass somewhere...

I’m going to look it over again. It seems prone to coming on more frequently at highway speeds
I have a 2007 Toyota 4Runner Limited (V6). I can confirm that this bypass works exactly as described. I went to Ace Hardware and bought this wire splice connector tap...

...followed the directions and the pictures looked exactly like what I saw when I dropped the black panel down to see the control modules. I unplugged the module (didn't unplug the battery), peeled back the yellow tap, cut off that once I had it peeled back far enough to work with the wires, I pushed back the black insulation around the wires and cut off the extra insulation with some multi-tool scissors, used that splice connector (make sure both wires are fully in each channel, used pliers to push that splicer down to cut the wires, pushed the plastic snap fastern down until it clicked to lock it on, plugged back in the wires into the module, buttoned everything back up and the light is gone once I started the truck.
It's so nice now since I had my OEM rims sandblasted and refinished with two coats of gloss black and 1 coat of gloss clear coat. I put regular rubber valve stems back in so I don't have to worry about those stupid sensors anymore.

Just tried doing this and now the maintenance light is flashing on start up.

No but getting close. Didn't flash until i did this.

It's just a coincidence, the maintenance light flashes at start up when it gets close to time to change the oil and then stays on once it gets there.

I did this in 1/2hr. Took extra time in carefully cutting the protective sheath and not the cables. Used a red scotchlock for pink/black and white/black wires. Wrapped it up with electrical tape and VIOLA(!) no more blinking TPMS light.

Thank you to the OP for this mod. Performed today on '06 Sport Edition T4R (120k miles). Used the blue connector, White/Black and Pink/Black. Worked like a charm. Nice vid on YT detailing procedure with same Runner as mine.
IMHO, I got good years of service out of the original sensors. Been through 3 sets of tires, the stock Dunlops, Michelins LTXs and Defender LTXs and haven't had a lick of trouble until past month. :trophy:

This was awesome, worked great for me! However my check engine light went away too sooo, not sure if that was supposed to happen. Anybody see how that could have been correlated maybe??
