Examiner.com? Nothing but an overblown blog, not what I'd call worthwhile information. This article headline says CO could lose up to 800 million which, when you read the article, is more than the state took in last year from gun related sports. Pretty hard to believe those numbers. These opinion and speculation articles are simply that and what the long-term result is will be determined in the long run.

Yeah, I get the idea and am not opposed to any boycott. I won't worry about it either, what will happen will happen and both sides ultimately will claim some kind of victory. The bottom line as far as I can determine is these new laws won't really have any effect either way. Once you get here bofa you'll fall in love with the open spaces, the mountains, the trails and your concerns will slip away. The same applies to gun sporting folks from other states, they'll come again this year as they have for years past with the exception of people who choose to stay away which I suspect will be minimal.

Yep, and I am looking forward to it for all the reasons you mention, and a few others. :cheers: I plan to have what I want/need before I get there and truth be told I have enough to keep myself entertained for years to come.

My love for CO and distaste for gun control are not necessarily intertwined, at least they weren't initially. I've decided to not let my political and personal perspectives on the issue change our plans for now. I will hold out hope that we see some change in the next election cycle.

The impact will make itself known in time. I'd hate for people to lose jobs, businesses, etc but at the same time, money seems to be the only influence politicians understand these days, and that goes for all.

None of my 1911s hold more than 8 rounds, and I prefer 10 round mags in my 6940 for reliability's sake... I think that Hickenlooper is the epitome of the Commiefornation of Colorado.

I have been traveling to that state for the last 15 years, and it's frightening how much it's changed to the left in that time.

Yes they are going to implement background checks and a 15 round limit. I don't think it is the end of the world. I also see a lot people on this thread who don't actually live in CO, myself included. It would be nice to hear from someone who lives there on why this new law is so bad.

Personally I'm for some reasonable limits on guns such as no-one can buy an M-60 or background checks. But I also realize that an AR-15 with a 30 round clip is not in any way an M-60. I'm not anti-gun however like some people on this forum.


Below is a table of the laws in CO. From a gun ownership perspective it looks like you have it pretty good.

[x] open carry
[x] concealed weapon with a permit
[x] castle doctrine
[x] stand your ground laws
[no] Statewide assault weapons laws like NY


I don't support an assault weapons ban or blame guns for the mass shootings. The a-hole who shot up columbine also set bombs which something M.Moore failed to mention in his anti-gun movie. Also I know the anti-gun statistics just don't pass muster. Of the 30k "gun deaths" a year over 2/3 are suicides and the rest are from handguns.

We could do a lot more to lower that 30k number by helping people who need mental health attention AND working to end poverty (something we are not doing now).

Legislation only effects people who wouldn't commit crimes anyway. You cannot effectively make laws to eliminate violence, any more than making a law to eliminate love.

If Colorado had written a law with restrictions on the 1st, 3rd,4th, 5th..... I would say the same thing. I am glad to see the people waking up.

If you are comparing CO to some of the ridiculous states like NY, CA, or now CT, then yeah, it "doesn't seem that bad." However it doesn't change the fact that these restrictions are unjustified, arbitrary, and proven to be ineffective. Plus the ambiguity of the language itself and wide reaching implications of how these could be enforced makes them downright dangerous.

As for the gun friendly laws listed above, keep in mind some of those do not exist in the most populated area (Denver) or are already severely restricted. Not many people open carry these days. Castle doctrine and stand your ground are inherent rights to self defense imo... but that's another debate.

Also, the people that take the time to hunt down an M60 and get their stamps all squared away and put enough money into maintaining and feeding it aren't the ones that are shooting up innocents.

Like you said, lets focus on mental health and enforcing existing laws. None of that was mentioned in this legislation unfortunately.

It doesn't really matter what the issue at hand is. If a representative is publicly(or privately) ignoring the voice of their constituents AND encouraging other elected officials to do the same, they need to go. Immediately. Its pretty scary how quickly a representative can turn into a ruler.
