We don't like how you asked that question. Thus you deserve to get flamed.

Suggestion- if you don't have anything to say- then Don't.

This board has thousands of helpful threads and info
hundreds of fellow 4Runner enthusiasts - unfortunately a small handful of people seem to think being rude and condescending is funny and their thing.

I have seen how the OP was treated like this on several occasions.

And you Mr. Moderator 1st Enginer seem to encourage it and also like to play on that side of the line.

I bought a Gobi rack from TD for my 2012 4Runner a couple years ago.

Never got a single email (besides the initial order confirmation) for about 4 weeks. Was quoted a 6-8 week lead time. I called Sandra at Gobi and was quoted another 3 weeks. Rack came in 2 weeks. I suggest calling Gobi since TD is not the person building the racks. Yes they should be updating you on the status but if you want to know the details Gobi will be the best one to help.

If you want to cancel, go with Bajarack (I was quoted a 3 week lead time on a custom built rack and drove down to pick it up myself in 2 weeks) or Eezi Awn/Front Runner. Currently I'm running an Eezi Awn K9 because of some roof tent clearance issues I had with the Bajarack I had. It was specific to the Spy model only and my longer RTT interfered with the light bar setup so I switched.

Pics in my build thread.

I take issue with this, our current moderator has done an outstanding job of allowing people to ask questions, voice their opinions, gripe, complain, and take things to the line before stepping in. The key is that your line might be different than his, but I don't think you are giving enough credit for his ability to balance the differing views and opinions on a public forum. It's a thankless job.

Man, it's like family, you can't pick 'em and sometimes you have someone that might annoy the crud out of you, or worse, but well you still gotta love 'em. If that doesn't work, just click ignore for them.

I had a similar situation with CAR ID when I ordered a set of Bilstein 5100 when they were on back order some time 2 years ago. No one had them it was insanity, I did extensive research online and sourced a small mom and pop company in California who had a bulk pallet of them only to be sold locally and I convinced them to sell me a pair. My point is maybe try to outsource and see if another company is offering the rack and has them in stock, chances are slim but its worth the effort.

instead of opening your cocklocker go to page 1 and you will see I answered his question.... hence the reason I said "Goo see page 1". If that is not clear enough for you, perhaps I can draw some stick figures?

How was your post on pg 1 an "answer" to his insights question about Trail Duty?

The OP started a reasonable thread in a benign way with a general question and a certain senior member decided to give him a lecture and made a rude judgement on what should/shouldn't qualify as a new thread and how a new thread should be worded to not offend him.....rather than just disregard it and not interact if he didn't think it worthy .......and then that senior member caught some coming back his way......some "inner circle" sounded the alarms and came to his aid.......and then a moderator got involved.......all because of one specific senior member. A thread that would have been about 10-15 posts grew to 4 pages had it been left alone in the first place.

OP- do what some of the others have stated, call Sandra at Gobi. I bought my Gobi rack through a GB about a year ago and did not hear much from Trail Duty about when it would be delivered. I called both TD and Gobi and finally talked to Sandra. She explained to me what was going on and set the right expectation.

If you do not want the Gobi anymore, cancel your order and get a different rack. I believe a recent Gobi Gb (Winter 2015) just happened so maybe look on that page to see what the wait time was for those guys. There still could be a little hangover left from that GB and it is making your order take longer than expected.

If we were to cancel what would yall recommend?

Could you be more specific on your intended uses for the rack? Members are throwing out the names of quality racks (baja, frontrunner, k9) but we can be more specific if you describe what your needs are. Do you need to mount a RTT, extra gear storage, hauling bikes, cargo carrier, mounting lights etc.? If you want to stick with the Gobi it sounds like your only choice is patience and contacting Gobi directly.

If you just need a rack for basic mounting then I have some sweet OEM Factory cross bars still available in the FS/Wanted thread. They work perfect with yakima and thule basket/accessories and my lead time is only 1-2 days, which could get them shipped out to you quick.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Personally I don't disagree with a lot of what you said, but everything you wrote has nothing to do with the fact the our moderator is doing his job as best as anyone could and I didn't think your criticism is warranted.

:wtf:

I don't know if this is a joke but since it is the internet and no one knows your true intentions of this post I think you're going a little too far and are taking things way to personally.

As my daughter would sing "LET IT GO"!
